• When my teacher gave us the assignment, we were all confused. To make or find a doll of our self? Julia and I were really confused. It was a math assignment too. Weird.
Today was the Monday before Christmas break. We only had part of a week to do this project! Well, that was going to be difficult! How the heck was I supposed to find a doll of myself?
In P.E. Julia and I kept talking about the assignment. When we went outside, the sky was a hazy-dark gray color. Weird. It was supposed to be bright and blue.

My parents won't let me search for a doll! That's it! I'm going to take my sister Molly's car to find one! Call me crazy, but if I don't do this assignment, I'll go back to kindergarten! I'll try to drive the car.
I grabbed the key with the Acura symbol on it, got my jacket, and headed out the door. It was 12 A.M.

    2 A.M.-
I'm driving along a highway. I'm going to look for the doll in the tall grass fields of South Carolina. As I passed by a gas station, I saw two of my friends from my old school- Jessie and Anna! I waved to them while I was still in the car. They double glanced and were in awe. They waved back and screamed, "Caroline!".
That's when I accidentally let go of the wheel.
I swerved to left, off the road and went into a road-side cut grass ditch. The door wouldn't budge. None of them. I was trapped. All the sudden, I heard someone open the door. When I got out, nobody was there. A miracle.
    2:30 A.M.-
I'm on the other side of the street where the gas station is. I think Anna and Jessie think I'm dead. They aren't there. Nobody is. There is a strip of about 10 3 room- 1 floor housing next to the gas station. It's still a hazy dark gray outside. I'm scared.
Before I had gotten out of the car, I grabbed the two pillows I brought, and I put the telephone in the white one. Only one of the lights outside the houses was lit. I sat outside it on the semi-rough concrete ground. I'm frightened and I miss my family. Molly, Mom, Dad, and Amy won't be happy the car is crashed. They probably think someone kidnapped me. Stole Molly's car too.

    2:50 A.M.-
I'm just awaking...I think I fell asleep. The light blue pillow without the telephone is gone. I see the light is still on. I go to knock on the door I was outside of. I have a feeling they took the pillow. I knock on the door and yell, "Give me back my pillow!"
By then, I was crying uncontrollably.
I swung the door open, and I saw a dark green-sided wall. There was a large queen-sized 3-mattress royal bed facing the left wall. I was about 10 feet away from it. On the bed, there was a young woman with long blond hair and sparkly blue eyes that stared at me, along with her two 5-year-old children. A son and a daughter. She had a southern accent and yelled, "What do you want?!" She was crying. I was too. I sobbed "Ma'am, I'm far away from my family who I love very much, and I miss them. I crashed my sister's car in a roadside ditch, and I miss my home. I'm scared, and I want to be back home!"
She sighed and looked down. Then she looked at me. She reached on the other side of the bed and got my pillow. While handing it to me, she replied, "Here you go. I'm so sorry my children took it from you. My husband just left and tried to kill us all."
She said to me, "Sweetie I want you to go outside there where you were sitting on the concrete. There is something for you there."
I turned and walked out. There, sitting in the middle of the concrete were probably 50 dolls that all looked like me- each doll beautiful and unique from the others. I gasped. I cried, "Thank you so much!"
When I turned around, the door was closed. There was a note that was slipped under the door. It said:

Caroline, to find your way back home, you need to go to the lake house. The one that has a staircase in the kitchen with the refrigerator next to it. The one with the giant beautiful multi-story window in the dining room/kitchen that faces the dark black lake in the darkest night with no moon.

I picked up the dolls and began my walk to the lake house. I know what the whole house, inside and out, looks like. The furniture too.
I don't need a map because I know where it is, although I've never actually been to it.
