• The day was cold and rainy. She would never forget that, the pathetic fallacy. Her bare feet were squished against the soft soil of the field. The knee-high blades kissed her legs around the bottom of her summer white dress. Rain gushed with the wind and hid her tears from the world. Abnormally icy needles plunged through her dark hair and thretened her head. Her wide, scared green eyes pleaded to the heavens: Why?! was her desperate cry. Her knees buckled, bringing her to the ground. She buried her face in her hands and let the dam behind her eyes break. She screamed; Silence replied, "Nobody cared. Why should they now?"
The green grass stood stubbornly sharp against the slate gray sky. Her small frame was crumpled at the hill's peak, barely noticeable. She shook until she couldn't - wouldn't - move ever again. She consented to die there, broken, on that hill. Then the sun broke through the clouds.
