• Mommy had left her again. It was cold like always. The rain outside made a melody against her window sill. Her head thrashed as she only knew it was a matter of time, before she brought him back, and he did that again. She looked at the clock. 5 minutes...10 minutes...20...30...1 hour later she heard the car pull up to the driveway of their dinky little apartment. She hurried and lied down and pretended to be asleep. As she heard the car door slam she tried to think of the stories her daddy used to tell her, those ones with happy endings. She winced as she heard him slam the front door open and start cussing. He opened her door and pulled her out into the airless living room by her hair. She screeched in pain as he slammed her into the table and screamed "You little *****, Look at what your momma worked for! The food in on the table, the clothes that you wear and you try to jeopardize that with your big fat mouth tellin them nasty lies!" "They ain't lies!" she screamed and he smacked her across the face."Stop tellin them lies!" as he punched her in the stomach. "You will stop tellin them lies to your Momma!" he screamed as he hit her arms, her face, her legs. He started to kick her in the ribs too. Black dots started to cloud her vision as it seemed the air wasn't enough. Finally the dots became one black wave that silenced all the other things.
