• “Brother! What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I followed you here to make sure you didn’t kill anyone. Because you and I both know your anger is worse than mine. You just bottle it up, and you know that’s not good.” He said, he looked like he was thinking, very hard, about something.
    “What’s wrong?” I asked him.
“Huh nothing’s wrong. Why would anything be wrong?” Toshirou asked.
“You’re thinking about something.” I replied.
“Well it’s just that, you should be a captain. And I’ve known that for a while, but I never did anything. And now Zaraki wants to take you into his squad…” He said obviously upset.
“Brother I’ll probably stay in your squad, considering I can’t move up in rank in his squad.” I replied smoothly.
“But you can’t move up in mine either!” He said frustrated. “You deserve to be higher in rank and you know it!”
“Brother, did you know Rukia Kuchiki should be a seated officer? But her brother won’t let her, to keep her safe.” I told him.
“Yes I know that, he won’t let his sister reach her full potential. It’s such a shame, she is so strong.” He replied. “But what does that have to do with you?”
“Well I’m not allowed to show anyone my bankai. Nor am I allowed to fight anyone that you haven’t already told of my power.” I reminded him. “You are doing the same thing Byakuya Kuchiki has done, but I’m not sure if it’s to protect me.” I knew that would hurt him, but maybe that’s what he needed.
“Y-you couldn’t possibly… I mean why would I… I would never…” He said unable to finish his sentences.
“Brother, I know that you wouldn’t intentionally try to hold me back, but maybe sub-consciously you’re trying to protect me. Or maybe sub-consciously you’re worried that I might surpass you.” I said, “Now are we going home, or are you going to stand here all night?” I asked starting to walk off.
