• Phoenix lounged in the chair reading silently, wasting time before a long day of training. Vincent was at a meeting about, her more then likely. You are the one person that can end this war; it’s just your choice to make. Logan, she missed her uncle more then ever. Her hand drifted to her necklace, Logan had given to her. It supposed to be her 18th birthday present from her parents, but when they died Logan had given it to her on that day. She remembered when he told her everything, when she knew the truth about Vincent. She sighed and put her book on the table next to her, she looked out the window. Watching the rain hit it, splattering and falling down the pane. She reached out and touched the cold glass, sending a shiver through her body.

Vincent watched her, her eyes just watching the rain fall. He fought and the urge again, he made a promise after all. You’re a guardian Vince that is all. He sighed and left the room knowing she would be safe with all the people in the house. Well not as much people as The Shadow overall, vampires, werewolves, demon, angel, and the few humans who united for the sole purpose of killing Dagen and destroying The Order. Vincent made his way to the meeting room; he walked in a closed the door.

“Glad to see you could make it Vincent,” Gabriel said. Gabriel was the one who founded The Shadow; he broke off from The Order once Dagen took charge. He was all for keeping there society a secret, unlike Dagen who wants to rule the world. (I know its cliché, but hey it’s just that kind of story.) “Please take your seat.”

Vincent sat down next to Avin, a vampire who was basically a father to Vincent. He took him in for his job, and called Vincent his own son. “You ok?” He asked, noticing Vincent’s quiet attitude. By now he would have thrown a sarcastic remark towards Gabriel.

Vincent shrugged. “Just thinking,” He mumbled.

“All right lets get this meeting started. First things first, Talon your reports,” Gabriel said calling everyone’s attention.

Talon was a scarred werewolf, who had three scars across his face from a fight with his brother. “Well, the eastern outpost was overrun early last night, Dagen had his right hand man Damien take care of the attack. Our western is still fine, and my scouts may have caught scent of a few demons moving through, they don’t know if its Dagen’s or rebels.”

Rebels, that’s what most of the Shadow consisted of. Creatures that dropped out of the Order, because they didn’t agree with how it was being ran. Most of the time, they were vampires or werewolves, it was rare for them to run into demons. Most of them were bloodthirsty, and just wanted death and power. Though there were a few in the Shadow, Alistair for one. He was once Dagen’s best friend, but he rebelled once Dagen killed his family. Also there was Echo, Shadow, and Scout, three half demons that left after they rescued a few kids from a raid.

“Just watch them, we need to know if they are rebels or not,” Gabriel said. “Second order of business how is our lifesaver doing in training?”

Avin stood up. “She is doing great; her swordsmanship is unbelievable for how long we have been practicing. She also has amazing control over her other abilities; I know Shadow has been very amazed by it.”

“Why isn’t Shadow here again?” Gabriel asked.

“He is working with Nix at the moment,” Avin explained. “And anything else you want to know about her, ask Vince.”

“Right her guardian. How is she doing other then great in training?” Gabriel asked.

“Aside the fact her uncle just died, she is doing great. No, wait lie. Her uncle just died…was killed and she is recovering. She doesn’t talk much anymore; her mind is all over the place,” Vincent explained. “I think it would help her, if she just had some time to sit and think, recuperate after this ordeal.”

“And how should we do that?” Gabriel asked his voice slightly irritated.

“Let her out of the house and live a somewhat normal life. I’ll go with her, maybe if you just let us go to the mall or see a movie, she would feel better,” Vincent suggested.

“Risk her life, not right now. It’s too dangerous,” Gabriel hissed.

Vincent sighed. “She needs to get out of this house it’s driving her crazy, I can’t handle to see her in the pain she is in.”

“Why would that be?” Gabriel asked, his voice almost mocking.

“Because I love her!” Vincent shouted. The room went silent, except for the chuckle that escaped Gabriel.

“Really, well then that’s perfect. You want to take her on a date,” He cooed.

“Shut up Gabriel,” Vincent hissed getting up.

“Did you just tell me to shut up?” Gabriel asked his voice cold.

“Yes, so why don’t you do it,” Vincent walked out of the room, nearly running in Phoenix and Shadow. She just looked at him.

“Did you really mean that?” She asked. Vincent looked at her. “Do you really love me?”

Vincent nodded and hung his head down. “I know its wrong, but I do. Since the first day we met.”

Phoenix chuckled and walked up to him, lifting his chin up. “Well I have a confession to make as well,” She smiled. “I love you, too.”

Vincent pulled her in and kissed her lips. Shadow cleared his throat. “Alright you two love birds, get the hell out of her, me and Echo will cover for ya.”

    “Meaning?” Phoenix asked.

“Meaning, Vince go take her to a god damn movie or something,” He said shooing them away. Vincent nodded and grabbed Phoenix’s handed leading her outside and to his car. They drove to the city, knowing the feeling the Romeo and Juliet shared as they ran to secretly get married.
