• There is a magical power of the Number Island, when a male and female got together, the female will automatically become the exponent of the male. An exponent made it easier to tell how many kids they could have.

    Once upon a time, there was a prince called “Number 2” living in a beautiful castle in the Number Island. He always wanted a beautiful princess that can give him 8 children.

    He knows that she is out there, somewhere, waiting. So, he decided to throw a party, and invited all the female numbers.

    “Wow, there’re so many pretty girls in here, but how would I ever know which is the right one for me?” Number 2 sighed. Number 2 knows that the only way to find the princess is to dance with each one of them.

    The first one was Number 5. “Is she the one?” Number 2 thought.

    To find out how many kids they would have, first they need to do the multiplication. Number 2 would be the base and number 5 would be the exponent. It is read as the two to the fifth power. It can be written as “2x2x2x2x2“Number 2 has to times himself 5 times. 2x2 is 4, 4x2 is 8, 8x2 is 16, and 16x2 is 32. They’ll have exactly 32 kids.

    “Next!” Number 2 said, disappointed. Here comes number 0, Number 2 knew that they would have 1 kid because every number except 0, raised to the zero power is defined to be 1.

    “Next!” He said, again. Number 1 has arrived; this time Number 2 knew they would have 2 kids because every number raise to the power one would get the value of itself.

    Number 2 has danced with most of the princesses. Finally, number 3 came to the party. Number 2 was very upset because he knew that he’ll never find her. He decided number 3 would be the last princess he’ll dance with today.

    With a little hope, he did the multiplication again. Two to the third power, times himself 3 times. 2x2 is 4, 4x2 is… 8! “Oh my god! You are the one!” Number 2 said happily. They fell for each other immediately.


    They finally got married the next day, and had exactly 8 kids, as Number 2 wished. And they lived happily ever after.
