• Hinata Hyuuga stood in front of the 5th Hokage, Lady Tsunade. Sakura had been assigned a mission to track down Sasuke Uchiha, a missing ninja that Hinata faintly knew. Hinata was a new Jounin and this was her first lone mission, so she was nervous. Hinata knew that the Uchiha boy was strong and intelligent, she had no idea why Lady Tsunade chose her for this mission. Hinata believed that she was weak and complete disaster. Though, Hinata did find one reason: her Byakugan. Hinata snapped back into reality when she was told to rest for the day and then go off on her mission tomorrow. Lady Tsunade then gave her a few pieces of paper, and she told Hinata that they were Sasuke's history, known jutsus, and rumored locations. Hinata nodded, and walked out of Lady Tsunade's office. Hinata walked down a few halls to get to a flight of stairs that led to the exit. Hinata's gray eyes were glued to the ground as she walked, and all she could see were the wooden floors and running shoes from ninjas she passed. Hinata looked up though when she saw familiar black running shoes, and she looked up to see her older cousin, Neji Hyuuga. Hinata stopped walking and she blushed lightly, her older cousin made her nervous all the time. "H-Hello, Neji-San."

Hinata watched as Neji's gray eyes drifted to the papers that were pressed against her stomach. "You were given a lone mission?" he replied.

Hinata nodded, and extended her neck so her mouth was next to Neji's ear. "I-I've been assigned a mission to track Sasuke Uchiha," she whispered as her eyes darted around for a moment. Hinata moved her neck back, and she looked into Neji's alarmed eyes.

"The Uchiha!?" Neji repeated in a frantic whisper. "He is a dangerous missing ninja!" he added.

Hinata sighed lightly. "I-I know... but I have no choice," she said and paused. "I leave to track him tomorrow morning... Now, I h-have to go Neji-San... Goodbye," she finished with a small, weak smile. Hinata saw that Neji was going to saw something, but Hinata side stepped and hurried away. As soon as Hinata walked out the door, she held up her hand, her index and middle finger up in the air. Hinata suddenly disappeared into a puff of smoke after using a Teleportation Jutsu. Hinata then reappeared in her room at the Hyuuga Estate, and she hid the papers in a secret compartment under the wooden floor. Hinata then hurried out of her room, and nervously walked to her father, Hiashi Hyuuga's room. When she reached it, Hinata gently knocked on the door. After a moment of waiting, a Hyuuga ninja opened the door. Hinata slowly walked in, and dropped down to the floor in a respectful bow. "F-Father, I am here to inform you of my new mission," she paused, and watched as her father raised a hand for her to sit up straight. Hinata did so, and continued. "I have been assigned an A-Ranked mission to track a missing ninja, Sasuke Uchiha," she explained. Hinata watched for her fathers reaction, and it was similar to Neji's.

"The Uchiha!? Why would they assign you such a dangerous mission!?" her father questioned.

Hinata blushed in embarrassment, she hated when people underestimated her. "I am a strong, intelligent ninja with a useful Kekkai Genkai!" she countered. "T-That is why!" she lied, she didn't believe that was the real reason at all for she did not believe in herself. Without another word, Hinata shot up and walked out of the room. Hinata was unable to face her father after her outburst, she knew that he would be disappointed. Though, because of her thoughts, she did not see the hint of a smile on her fathers face. Hinata hurried back into her room, and plopped down on to her bed. Hinata then sighed and stared down at the wooden floor, where her mission papers were hidden. Why was I chosen...? she thought as she ran her fingers through her hair, she wasn't ready for this.

Hinata lied down on her bed, and soon, she drifted off to sleep. Hinata had a dream, about her mission. Hinata had yet to find out Sasuke's current appearance, so Sasuke looked the same, just taller and with a sixteen year old face. Those Sharingan were staring at her, a smirk upon his face. Hinata's gray eyes widened in terror, she was going to fail the mission. Sasuke was going to kill her. Then it all began again. Hinata woke up, traveled for three days, and reached Sasuke's hideout. Those eyes staring at her, then it started all over again. Hinata woke up after the fifth time, sweating, and still in her clothes. Hinata looked outside her window, the sun was just starting to come up. Hinata let out a small groan, and got up. Hinata walked out of her room, and down a long hallway. Hinata walked into another room and cleaned herself. Hinata hurried back to her room to change, then, she stared at the wooden floor once more. Hinata bit her lower lip, and carefully lifted the broken wood and took out the mission papers. Hinata brushed off some dirt, and she put back the wood. Hinata set down the papers, and refilled on her weapons. After, she put on her headband.

Hinata closed her eyes once more for a good eight minutes, and when she opened them, Hinata snatched the papers and walked out of her room with a determined look in her gray eyes. Those nightmares weren't going to happen. She was going to complete the mission, she had to. All she had to do was find his location, not get caught, and report it to Lady Tsunade. Hinata walked into another room to stock up on food pills, chakra pills, and bread. When she was done, Hinata fit all of these iteams in her tan backpack and she made her way to the exit of the Hyuuga Estate. When Hinata got there, she saw them. Her father, little sister, and older cousin. Hinata's eyes lowered to the ground for a moment, but then make to them. Hanabi, her little sister, bowed to her for a moment. "Good luck, Hinata," she greeted. Hinata smiled weakly at her, watching as her little sister took a step back. Then, Neji, her older cousin approached her.

"Be careful, Hinata. Be on your guard at all times," he warned, in a serious matter though he had a caring tone in his voice. Like Hanabi, Neji took a step back. Then, Hiashi, her father approached her.

"Hinata... I am proud that you have been given an important mission, but be careful...," he paused, and a hint of sorrow came into his eyes. "The Hyuuga Heiress can not die," he said. Unlike usual, his tone was more worried than strict. Hinata's weak smile became a soft one.

"I-I will be careful," she reassured. Her father nodded and took a step back as well. Hinata then bowed to them all, and they stood aside so Hinata could exit. Hinata walked out with caution, as if she was already in the danger zone. Though, when she saw the familiar scenery, she seemed to be relieved. Hinata walked normally now, until she reached Konoha's gates. Hinata's jaw tightened a bit, and he speed quickened. Hinata jumped up onto the nearest tree and she began to run, then jump on to another tree. Hinata continued this process as she read the papers over. Hinata needed to go East, luckily she was already going that way, so she wasn't wasting time. It took three days to reached the rumored destination, so she couldn't waste time. Though, somewhere inside Hinata, she wanted to take her time. Hinata wanted to have a longer time before she reached the destination, for she believed that she would die. Hinata had no faith in herself, and she knew that it wouldn't do any good, but she couldn't help it. Hinata used to think of Naruto to have determination, but over the years, her feelings for him disappeared. Now Hinata had nothing. No hope. Just terror.
