• There is a flaw in all of us. We can all feel the void within us and know that is why we wake at night with bad dreams. We are haunted by monsters under the bed, in the closet, in the darkness. Then as we grow older we loose this fear, we rationalize the feelings we sometimes get and brush them off our shoulders like crumbs on a table. The prickling feeling at the top of the spine, a nauseas feeling in the pit of our abdomen. Is it all just as many think, childish fears, young minds running wild? What if there really was something to fear. What if there was something hiding in the darkness, and it hungered?
“What if I was coming for you?”
The screen was the only light in the room; a low buzz came from the air conditioner as it cut off. The heat that followed made sweat beads appear on his skin. What if I was coming for you? This cant be real! As the next messages appeared on the screen he began to shake.
“What if?......What if?” He imagined a sadistic singsong voice was speaking the words. “Well, it really is not a matter of What If…..but more of When!”

The chair was flung back, Mike stood in the darkness lighted by the computer screen. His face reflected pure fear. He felt nauseous, the top of his spine prickled, dizziness made him stumble falling on the tile of the kitchen. It took him a full minute to open the door to the garage.
The wheels peeling out the drive masked the sound of the engine that started. A dark red car slide onto the road after Mike. Its engine was steady and its path planned as it followed the frantic truck that barreled down the empty streets headed for the interstate.
