• You and your family have moved into a new home, the place is old and reeks of cat urine and mildew, but with a bit of sprucing up, this place can look great, so your dad says, but you know that you're going to hate it here. New school, new people, new locations. You're homesick and sad though, because everything of your old life is still stuck at your old home.

    "Change is good sometimes..." so your mother says.

    But you know this is going to suck. A lot!

    As you go up into the attic, which is now your new room and the stink of cat piss isn't so bad in here, that and the view from the large window is welcoming. Obviously the older occupant used this room as a study so it seems, an old desk littered with half burnt or eaten books and multiple drawings and notes taped or stapled against the walls. So many pictures of weird looking beasts and creatures, even some you recognize from children stories. And yet, most of them are of fairies, it's now known that this room was occupied by a weird old lady in need of a social life...or...nah...probably just some kid.

    Your gaze is quickly caught by something moving, a shadow and large eyes looking up at you. You scream and throw a book nearby at it. The thing, whatever it was, pray a feline, runs off hissing loudly. As it crawls under the floorboards, it seems to have knocked over a thick leather bound book that kicks up a lot of dust and fuzz in the sunbeam. Looking down at it, the name of it is burned off.

    You ain't got nothing else to do, your parents are gone back to the old house to pick up a few last boxes and they're not expected home until later on. You sit down...and you begin to read...

    The Book

    "At first, they were not known by their names as what mortals dubbed them to be. In the past, they were called of what their close relations were called; Goblins, Imps, Pixies, Drixies, Fairies, Nixies, and Gricks. Even more so to other names that have not and probably will not be discovered. Yet, Kendeh's are fairly more unique from their fey like counterparts and oddly enough, only being half of what they are classified in.

    I have seen a few, not many as much has I have seen other fey species. They are as rare as finding a four leaf clover, possibly even more just to obtain one! Truthfully, not many have the gift that I have to see the enchanted and fantastical beasts that have roamed Earth for thousand of years. When history was young, yes, every other being could see them, but now...

    Now....they have forgotten the old ways and over time, the way of Sight has become forgotten. Children seem to still be affected, possibly drawn between the lines of innocence and imagination at its best, but only a lucky few get to keep what they know. The rest are left to wallow in reality.

    And I tell you this good sir or madame;

    Dragons are real.
    Demons are real.
    Gryphons are real.

    Fey, Goblins, Unicorns, Wraiths, Ghosts, Angels, Witches, Warlocks, and anything else you can think of that is in fairy tales....they. are. real!

    As you read this though, I wish that my name stay anonymous, you need not know of whom I was for that is quite unimportant. All I can say is, is that I wish to share with you this wonderful gift that I had. If you can read this, then it is obvious that you already have the gift. And what if you don't?

    Simply relax and remember the first moment of your childhood that was the happiest. Bring fourth your inner child and look deep within your heart to search for your innocence....there..can you feel it? That strange tingle and odd little sensation that makes you feel warm and playful? Good! Keep it there!

    Now...back to the Kendehs....

    From what I have gathered from willing beings of this species, they say that their kind are commonly the outcasts of other fantastical creatures due to their constant problems of disloyalty and confusing nature. They are not fond of making friends with other fey folk, even with imps and goblins they seem to be hated by even the darker sorts. Some find solstice in these creatures though for they are very colorful, varying from multiple shapes and sizes, more females than males nevertheless, but even if they seem mistrusting, the are the most respectful and most kindest creatures you will ever experience in your life.

    The oddest thing about Kendeh's is that their species' name is pronounced Candy. Obviously, I'm not the first to fall upon these beauties, but they named themselves such ways is because of their vibrant colors and odd scents that they produce. Amazingly enough, there was one that was proud enough to mention that they inspired, even helped, humans create the sweet and addictive treats that we call candies today! Of course, over time, it seems that new ideals are produced over and over again, and even newer ones are being discovered. Now, yes, even now, these beings are kind enough to spend some time with lucky humans and inspire imagination for good tasting food.

    They are, to simply put;

    The Sweets of the Fey species."

    Suddenly, you look up and groan as you hear your mother scream up asking what you want for dinner. Your choices involve pizza or Chinese. Hungry, but more entertained by this journal and yell down that you want pizza, had take out two nights ago anyways! Hearing the common remarks of your mom and dad chatting away and pulling things out of boxes and sounding clumsy, you dive back into the book.

    August 15, 1867-

    "I've caught one! I've finally caught one! My trap was so..so..so easy! I wasn't expecting it to work so well, yet my studies and calculations were correct about them and I caught one! The thing...no, the female, is rather big. She's even more beautiful up close and I knew when I first saw her in the garden, she was the one I wished to obtain first!

    I had first caught sight of the adult Kendeh when I was tending to the lavenders and roses near the gazebo, at first, I thought it was possibly a bird, but the wings were not feathered, but bat-like. Then the sound of giggling and whispers were heard as the strange scent of something sweet just fogged the very air itself. Truthfully, it was almost sickening to my stomach and gave my mind a bit of a headache, but I was able to slip close before everything suddenly went silent. Obviously whatever it was had caught sight or smell of me and its companion had went quiet.

    I sat there for a good few moments before one of my feline friends; Trucker, raced into the bushes. There were screams in strange languages, then the sound of firecrackers and a howling cat running back out of the bushes and practically tearing me to shreds! What came after it was a small fey creature, little bat wings fluttering madly and large eyes glaring while sharp little claws trying to grab at the cat.

    Then...a pop sound of soda bursting from a bottle and the thing had disappeared! After that, I was quite delirious and confused about the situation, that and the now lingering stench of burning chocolate made me gag for a moment.

    After that little moment, they appeared out of nowhere, that or they were always there and I had never noticed before. I began to realize that the odd little sounds and strange smells were not of the cats, but of these...Kandehs. Now that I have one, I'm able to move onward with my little obsession and finally come to some sort of explanation..

    She seems angry with me, very angry with me and it's obvious that she remembers me since she is staring right at me with her venomous glare that unsettles me while I write. I just hope she doesn't try to kill me...

    "Come help us! NOW" your father bellows loudly that seems to shake the very walls.

    Quick not to send your father on a warpath, you're quick to bookmark your spot with a bit of yarn and stand up to race out of the room while slamming the door shut. As you do this, a small being, no bigger than a dog, peeks out. Long ears twitching while nose sniffing about cautiously and shivering with confusion. The dark being with glowing marks was quick to race from its hiding place and grab the book. As quick as they could, the fey thing looked around and tossed the book back on the dusty desk while turning on the old lamp.

    Soon enough, soft music came from the being, ears wiggling as it sat hunched over like a gargoyle and wings folding against their body. It looked up, hearing movements and sounds before quickly racing back under the floorboards.

    Only an oddly shaped footprint and small hand prints on the table and book was left behind...
