• I saw everything from here.
The cliff overlooked the whole city. Below me I could see the people moving about, going about their daily lives. If I looked up,it seemed as if I could touch the sky. I turned away from the view and back towards the dark dense forest behind it.
I brushed my bangs back over my left eye. The red one. How I hated being cursed with it. Its power was another story though. I just hated having that damned eye. How could I blend in so I could use my power when that eye must always be covered up by my long black hair? Every power has its downfall I guess. I found myself smiling at that thought.
I kicked at a rock with my black shoes. It bounced around a bit then fell still a few feet away. I pulled my hands from my pants pockets and messed with my jacket.I poked at a few of the straps that held it in place around me. Then I messed with my red t-shirt underneath my jacket, out of boredom.
I looked up,at the rock. I stopped fidgeting and extended one hand. The rock was engulfed in flames only a second later.I sat down to watch then to watch my handy work.
My ears and tail twitched with eagerness. I would have liked to burn the whole forest, but I knew my sister would be mad if I did.She would never let me hear the end of that. She already thought I was a pyromaniac. But then again, what did she know? I was in charge of her right? So that means her say doesn't count. Besides, when you have the gift of fire, you kind of are a pyromaniac.
My ears and tail were just another way I couldn't blend in. They resembled that of a foxes, and were a sad shade of gray. I longed to be able to go unnoticed in the city. Then I could easily burn anyone or anything, and get away with it. I viewed these as another drawback that came with my power.
I shook my head and sighed,my ponytail swinging gently as I did.
