• Always Too Careful

    Chapter 3

    Serena's P.O.V.

Huh? Where am I? I thought as I layed in bed. Then I remembered it all. What my father did, where I was, and my horrible dream. In my dream I was running to catch up to some one, but I didn't know who I was running after because they had their hood up. I finally caught up to them but when I grabbed their hoodie memories started flashing before my eyes. One of my mom and I fishing in the ocean when I was about six, another of my mom and I having a girls' night because my dad wasn't home and we had so much make-up on that we looked like clowns from when I was about five. The last memory was from the day before my mom left, the day before my fourteenth birthday. We were at the local beach playing in the ocean. After we were done playing in the water we came back on to the beach and started making sand castles. We stayed to watch the sun set then we watched the moon and the stars twinkle like diamonds in the sky. When we were riding home she kept telling me that she loved me and that no matter what she always would. I wondered what she meant when she kept saying that over and over again, but when morning came I knew. She had left both my father and me a note. All my note said was that she loved me and that she wished she could be here with me. My father wouldn't tell me what his note said and after he got done reading it he burnt it in the fire place so that I never would see it. The rest of my fourteenth birthday I spent in my room crying. Why? I thought. Why did she leave me?
I went down stairs into the kitchen to fix me some breakfast, more like lunch though because it was already noon. When I went into the kitchen I saw Lizzy sitting down with her mom. "Are you okay Serena?" Lizzy asked as soon as I walked into the kitchen. " I'm fine. Why?" I answered. " Well for one thing you're covered in bruises and for another you were screaming and yelling 'wait for me' in your sleep." She replied. "Oh." I said, I couldn't think of anything better. "So why are you here don't you have classes today?" I asked another question, but this time I already knew the answer. "What am I doing here? What am I doing here?! I came here because your dad beat the crap outta you and you have always been like my little sis so I was worried as he*l about you. Then my mom tells me that you've been yelling all night saying 'wait for me' and 'don't leave me' in your sleep. So yeah I came to check on you." Lizzy said, fuming. "Okay, okay I get the picture. You were worried about me." I said. " I'll be back later you guys I'm going out to get some fresh air" I said as I walked back up stairs to get changed and add some make-up to my bruises.
It took me less than thirty minutes to get ready, and by the time I was done I was completely awake. Lizzy and Mrs. DiAngelo were still in the kitchen when I left. " I'll be back later you guys. I'm heading somewhere to get some fresh air and think." I said. Thinking about my dream, I headed to the beach to see if I could find some answers to all the questions I had.
