• "Why do I have to keep it?" i nearly yell at the elders. When I arrived back at the village, they informed me that I was to be the one to care for the human.
"Are you not the one who found it?" Elder Tagaza said. I glare at him, but don't comment immediantly.
"As you are the one to have found it, you are the one to keep it in your care," Elder Leici said.
"But Elders," I plead. "Why can't we simply put it with the others of it's kind? Then every one is happy."
Elder Tagaza laughed at my comment. "He is obviously royalty to the humans, it could start a war if he was not treated well."
"And you expect me to treat it well while it is in my home, frightening my little sister sensless?"
i keep my ground, hoping that they would reconsider placing the human in house. I knew that the Elders, at least Leici, loved to keep my sister happy. And to my delight, Tagaza seemed to think it over.
Suddenly, my little sister, Alexis, ran into the room and hugged me tight. She was scared, and I glanced at the Elders before softening my expression and lowering myself to my sister's height. Her bright blue eyes were red with tears, and her red ears were down.
    "Alexis," I said. "What's wrong?"
"The human woke up," she said, wiping her eyes. "it's really scary."
"Do you want me to go and talk to it?"
Alexis nodded her head and I lifted her onto my hip. Before I left, I glanced again at Tagaza, furious that my sister had been frightened.

Once at my small hut that I shared with Alexis and a few others, I heard the human walking around. I put Alexis on the ground and told her to go and play with the other children. Once she was gone, I walked inside.
The human was looking around the hut. Intrigued by its new surroundings. It looked like it could do no harm, but it was still a human, and could not be trusted. Once it noticed my pressence, it looked at me with green-gray eyes.
"Hello," it said warmly and held out a hand. I crossed my arms, and it put its hand back to its side. "My name's Tyler. Tyler Savage."
"Good for you," I was not in a good mood, and I knew the human could tell. "Tell me, how'd you scare my baby sister?"
"The little girl who ran when I woke up?"
"No, the eleven foot sludge monster terrorizing the village," acid mixed with sarcasm and the human flinched.
"I just tried to be nice and tell her my name."
"Well you frightened her. So you will apologize."
    "Certainly, where is she?"
"Playing, but I didn't mean say your sorry."
    "Then what did you mean?"
I smiled at all the types of torture that suddenly popped into my head.
