• Somebody comes to town and I wonder to myself who is this person? Are they nice? Should I talk to them? All these questions flood my mind as I wonder who this person is. I build up the courage to walk over to them and ask them who they are. They look at me and simply respond "Just a person." I sigh and think how informative this person is. As of now I just want to walk away and forget the person, but I was told to be nice and show him around. So, I take a deep breathe and exhale speaking the words I'm glad I spoke. "Would you like a little tour of the place?" The person looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "Oh dear," I thought "Here comes another *very* informative response." That wasn't the case. He smiled and nodded. His answer wasn't like the last. This time it was nice. "Sure. That would be great." He replied. We made our way down the hall and towards the cafeteria. It was nearly lunch time and I was starving. When we reached the massive room with just about every kid in the school the person stopped. I looked at him to see his jaw had dropped. "What's the matter?" I asked. He looked to me and said "That's a lot of kids, how do you ever get your food in time?" I laughed and pulled out the lunch that I brought from home everyday. "It's simple. After four years you learn to just bring your own." The loud roar of students talking passed us by as we walked in. It seemed that every table was taken up. Each table holding it's own little group. I could tell this new person was really shy about where to sit. Reminded me of myself when I first came to this school. I had already sat down. Seeing the new guy was lost I waved my hand to get his attention. "Over here!" I called out. He quickly bolted past everyone and sat at the table as well. From then on I had realized I made a new friend. One that I could finally eat lunch with. One that's shy just like me. The next day I walk into school ready to greet my new friend when I'm told that someone left town. My unluckiness had once again took over for my new friend had moved back to his state. My head fell to the floor. Why? I had finally made a new friend and he leaves. I sigh deeply and shake it off. I can always make more. I just need to keep doing what I do and I will get far and make a lot of friends.
