"It's time! Take whatever you have and let's get out of here!" Luther commanded. Against his orders, Amanda ran towards the burning huts. A part of him felt like leaving her there, but he started into a run after her. She was too far ahead, and before he could get close enough to the hut to shout anything, one of the burning trees let out a loud cracking noise as it fell.
Sparks burst from the burning tree as Luther was forced to stop his pursuit. He wasn't going to leave Amanda to burn, so he backed up a few steps and leaped over the tree with a running start. Parts of his clothes were on fire, but Luther ignored them as he ran towards the guest hut.
Luther burst through the door. The ceiling was on fire, and on the verge of collapsing. The heat was worse than outside, and throguh the smoke, he tried to find anything he could. All of the troops were fleeing the city, and making their way back to the trucks.
The smoke was acrid, and filled the hut completely. It was a race against time as the Contagion Effect entered the forest. Luther coughed. If they weren't fast enough, they wouldn't be able to get this smoke out of their lungs, and death would be inevitable.
A part of the ceiling toppled down on one half of the hut. The flames increased in size and intensity, and Luther ran to the other side. Any fires he snuffed out on his clothes just came back again.
In the far end of the hut, another tree came down on it, and nearly crushed Luther. But the black-purple robe underneath it was unmistakable. It belonged to Amanda, and she was trapped. Acting quickly, Luther raised his hands to the sky, and let out a forceful blast. The room burst in a quick shockwave, and the smoke started to reach for the sky. It wasn't much, but it gave them time.
Luther cursed himself silently as he grabbed the burning wood and tried to pull it away. No doubt his god-like endurance had been used up for today. All that was left was Luther's own physical strength. Moments later, the debris was out of the way, and Luther grabbed Amanda. He slung her over his back, and ran past the walls he tore down and out of the hut.
The entire forest was either on fire or already dead, and the trees were falling. Luther coughed constantly as he ran. The dead carcasses of animals and soldiers were being burnt up, and Luther tried to get as far away from the city as possible.
By the time Luther made it to the trucks, he knew it was too late. Amanda was burned severely, and so was he. Even Luther hurt with each step, and for him, pain was a hard thing to come by. Outside the trucks, Luther collapsed to the ground, and dropped Amanda when he did. The soldiers rushed to their aid, and the dark figures of men wirled in Luther's vision even as it darkened.
Clutched in Amanda's limp hand was a rose of blue petals, its thorns making her hand bloody.
