• Shadows of the warm flames danced across the blood stained walls. People were screaming outside the walls. Those that were inside only cried of their losses and the tragic fate of those among the dark. A child sat near these flames to keep herself warm, all alone in this hell she hugged herself thinking of her family. They were trapped out in the darkness with no light of anything to guide them home. Not a single tear came to her eyes and for that she felt terrible but in times like this she had no time for tears. She had to defend herself and stay alive at all costs. Drowning in her emotions like everyone around her would only lead to her death. Outside of these walls were untold horrors that came from the hole leading down to the Earth's core. Hell on Earth is what they called it when the first city went up in Hell's flames. Monsters from every story ever told was released from Hell's grasps and thrown out here to take those who didn't follow the Devil. A mark was given out the mark of the beast and those whom refused it were put to death. But this girl found a way around this, being a talented artist she used ink to draw the mark on her right forearm. The creatures couldn't tell the difference between ink and a tattoo. Little did the girl know that she really wasn't human herself. Truth be told she was an angel born to a family to live through life to help God's followers escape to Heaven.

Quietly she sat by the flames of the fireplace, hugging herself tightly with sorrow grasping her heartstrings. Outside the building you could hear all the people panicking and screams as the monsters latched onto them. She hugged herself tightly as her tears flooded to her eyes, she quickly wiped them away. Looking around the room she came across a paper, she picked it up and quickly read it. THE END IS NEAR, SERVE THE MASTER OR PARISH AN ETERNITY OF HELL. The paper read, as she turned it over a symbol appeared on the back, her eyes grew wide with fear as she dropped the paper to the floor. It couldn’t be, she remembered the symbol from her church in the past few months. It as the mark of the devil himself. Outside the door she heard scuffling and chains. She ran and hid in her closet as quietly as she could, she prayed to God.

“Celestia, my child…draw the mark on your forearm. You will be safe.” A voice said to her in a very soothing voice. She looked around and grabbed a black marker from off of her desk and started drawing the mark of the devil on her left forearm. She started wondering why the voice had called her Celestia, when her name was Myra.

"Celestia is your given name, my child don't be afraid. I have placed you on Earth with a purpose. My people need your guidance and help to reach me. Call them home my Angel, call them to our promise land." The voice spoke again as Myra smiled remembering her home in the Heavens. Simply she nodded and then sat in the middle of the room as she waited for what fate was to come next. There was a loud knock on the door, which caused the poor girl to jump but she looked around for something to hide in, but it was too late. The door burst open as a hell hound entered the room followed by a winged demon. Myra looked at them with a fear stricken face and dropped her arms to her side causing the mark to show on her forearm. The hell-hound sniffed the child very good and looked at the winged beast.

"I see you already have the mark of or lord, you start work in the mines tomorrow morning at 5AM." The beast gargled and then set out of the home with the hell-hound on its heels. Myra quickly closed the door and ran to her room, flying onto her bed for a safe place to hide. She pulled the covers over her head and let her tears fall again. Shivering and frightened she cuddled her teddy bear which wore her cross. She prayed to God once more and let her eyes slowly droop. She pictured her family and the heavenly light of heaven as she drifted off to sleep.

"I will protect you while you sleep, but know that this road is not an easy one, my child. I will be there with you every step of the way, just know you have my strength and my devotion on your side." God said to the little one as sleep overtook her tired body.
