Her name was Miss L. She seemed like a nice woman until the first couple of sentences out of her mouth were: "I can't wait to teach you all about our bodies and sex! Sex is a very interesting bodily function and I'm sure my life stories will help you cope with your sex lives".
Throughout the course of the class, we were continuously being shocked by what she did or said or had us do or say. To learn about female reproductive parts, she drew a uterus and ovaries with fallopian tubes on the chalkboard and had a male student get up in front of the class; stand in front of the board and pretend to be the egg. Then she grabbed a piece of clay and was like "This is a male organism. It wants to attack this female organism. This, class, is how women become pregnant. Trust me- I'd know." To learn about both the female and male reproductive organs and child birth, she had us watch a movie that showed (through video footage gathered by a small camera inserted in a woman and a man) the inside of both those people's reproductive organs. Then we had to watch a woman give birth to a child. It wasn't your average video. It centered entirely on her "private" area and we had to watch it expand over time... it was just the most disturbing video ever..
When it came to condoms, we DID have to put them on bananas and then zucchinis and then our own arms. When it came to the arm part, she stretched it up over her shoulder and head and was like "See? Condoms ARE elastic!" Then she blew it up and tied it off and said "Just don't think they're very durable-" and she popped it with her teeth,"They can break easily. Just ask my husband on our wedding night.. how do you think my daughter got here?"
Besides that- she just had odd games for sex education like "connect the dots to form a man's "private area" or a woman's "private area". Clay projects in which you build 3d models of the reproductive systems..
And, her student helper was just as scary, too! He thought he was making class easier but only made it harder especially with the questions he asked. Like, this one time, he asked me "Has she taught you to put on a condom?! Wasn't it fun biting it with your teeth?!!"
All I know is- when the sex education part of health class was over- I was GLAD!!!
