• I could feel the pain in my feet, my arms and hips. Christmas was coming around and knowing Mrs. Dollanganger, she would make us practice until our ballet shoes were going to fall apart. I had to practice alot as well, because I play The swan, I don't know why she gave me the part, The princess is suppose to have blond hair, not stupid black hair like mine. To make it worse, the prince is Michael, the real prince in our school. The way he dances makes all the girls’ knees tremble, but not mine. He wants all his partners perfect Barbies, and Barbies have blond hair. Whatever, I just need to show him that the one girl in the background could be Barbie. Dip, leap, point tip. Simple you would say, but the way the swan has to swarm across the stage like she is swimming is hard, and I have to wear the weirdest of dresses, it is all puffy. And I have to have a wig on that makes the end of my hair white, for white hair feathers. But, if I dared to mention my complaints to Mrs. Dollanganger, she would make me the window once more. 5 years I have been in Ballet, but, you would not call me skinny, the rest of the girls in our class have no chest and look like twigs, but me... A huge chest and a small stomach. But, I am farther than the class. The bell rings, finally I can rest. "Julie, I need you to come here." Says the prince himself, I could feel the blood rushing to my head, my eyes glittering with hope "You dance better than any of the girls in the class, but I saw how you have your mind some place else, I need you to focus" He looks deep into my grey eyes, his eyes almost black, making me want to drown in them. Sure, he is good looking, but he is a total jerk. Wait, did he just say I don't focus? I thought before I spoke "Michael, you no need to worry, I don't focus because I know the moves like the back of my hand. Anyway, I do suggest you put away that ego when you dance with me, I want you to look at me, not smiling at the crowd." I said, I could tell he felt like he was slapped. He got up from the floor and looked me in the face "I smile at the crowd because just the thought of smiling at you kills my brain cells." Shocked, and without thinking I replied "Well, it's not like you have a brain. You relay on your looks and your movements, I pity you." On the word pity, I could see the anger rush to his face, no I was not like the other girls, I did not just let him run over me "Why you little…” “Little what? I dare you to say it.” Before I knew it, he had his arms on my shoulders, his face blushing; I bet mine was as well. “You have some attitude you know, yelling at me when I tried to help you.” Now the anger was gone from his eyes, he had some kind of soft touch. His hands fell from there tight grip and turned into caressing. His hands where soft, moving up and down on my arms, I could feel my body tingling. “I have never noticed how pretty your eyes are, I thought they were plain grey, but if you look closely, there grey and then they fade into a light green, then to purple.” What should I say? Now, one of his hands was on my back, slowly pulling me forward. I was speechless. I couldn’t do anything. He leaned his hands down to mine, his head slowly moving forward to mine… his lips, so red and looked so soft so…Kissable. I could feel myself drowning in his dark eyes, my body stiff. Just as soon as our mouths met he said “Now, that’s how much you need to focus while you’re dancing with me.” A devilish smile came across his face. He...He tricked me!! He grabbed his stuff and walked out of the door, not giving me a second look.
