• The Listener

    Eyes and hands,
    mouths and ears
    prying, grabbing, lying, listening.

    Candles on a table,
    light in a room,
I snuff the candles shadows remain.

In the darkness I have become blind to the world around me.
In the light I see to much,
    I am a listener, not a seer.

    I stab my eyes,
    I seal my mouth,
    I remove my fingers,
    I bind my ears.

    I see evil,
    I feel hate,
    I say nothing,
    but hear everything.

    They say ignorance is bliss.
    They say ignorance is sin.
    Ignorance is unknown,
    the unknown stirs fear,
    fear stirs anger,
    anger leads to destruction,
    destruction leads to nothingness.
    that nothingness is unknown.

    It is a clock:
    cogs turning in unison;
remove a spring it all falls apart.

    Shadows and Light.
    Evil and Good.
    Seeing and Feeling.
    Speaking and Hearing.

I am the one who hears your atonements.
    I feel your sins.
yet you do not know what I can do.
