Knight Fall
The dragon's flame had burned my soul,
and now I'm pure and charred in hole.
It rid me of the guilt,
that chained me to the lies of past.
It cleared the path of broken brush,
and as I burned I felt the rush,
of spirit taking over life,
and through the smoky haze it cast.
A shadow of my former life,
I looked down and saw sobbing wife
and friends who mourned my passing,
though they never let me know.
While alive I was a lonely one,
and often thought of taking gun,
to put an end to pain,
because I'd clearly lost my glow.
The dragon always tempted me,
but this last time on bended knee,
I bowed my head in honor ,
to receive the blasting heat.
The dragon loosed the fiery blast,
that freed my spirit from the b*****d's,
clutching with their claws,
deeply embedded in my meat.
As I broke free of bondage,
I left to start a new age,
speaking only truth and doing right,
to show good folks alive.
That change could come no matter what,
the sins of prior deeds had cut,
A spirit no religion could repress,
with lies and jive.
If you can see through all the smoke,
that burns the eyes and makes you choke,
then maybe you are chosen, too.
to have the dragon's flame purge you.
I'll say that once the deed is done,
you've made it through life's path and won,
Though body charred inside your grave,
your spirit will remain now pure and true.
