Twenty six degrees
That's how cold it is, you whisper in my ear
Your hands skim up my legs, my knees
past my thigh and to my waist
I'm frozen with cold, but you're keeping me warm
I want to ask you so many things:
"Does blood turn to ice that quickly?" No, you reply
"Where on earth did you find a thermometer?" You just smiled
"Is it snowing yet?" Yes, you told me, that little smile on your pale face
"Could I wear a sundress today?" It's too cold babe, you told me and kissed my fingertips.
"When does the sun melt it all?" Soon enough, babe, you quipped. Your fingers danced on my skin.
My heart swells with the sun rise, and I watch it, and you watch me
Your eyes aren't trained on the colors erupting in the sky, lighting the snow on the ground
blotches of colors I'd wish to see again
over and over again
Your hands trail up my arms and to my shoulders, the straps of my sundress keeping them from my skin.
You're going to freeze babe, summer's a long way away, you told me.
I didn't care
You just wanted me out of my dress
"You always this romantic in the morning?" I asked.
You smirked and I got to go outside, in my sundress
Freezing my toes in thick boots
Little spikes of cold falling on my arms.
