I can feel you.
The cold ghost of breath on my neck
The faint whispers of broken promises and lies
Echo in my ears eternally
The brisk touch of something on my bare skin
Causing me to tremble
Uncontrollably.
I told you,
After all that has happened
Even if I could
Love you
I doubt it would last
That it would
Satiate
Your hunger,
Let alone heal
My wounds and
Resurrect
My dying spirit.
For my doubts
Are too great a number,
More than either my thirteen or your eight
And though I see
How
You try,
Oh yes how you try
To chase away my fears,
Wipe away those unwanted hurt tears,
Yet, I was not meant to exist,
But I do
I breathe and live as do you,
Yet we have not one beating heart between us two,
I can’t hope to hide the flame of desire you and I
Both hide inside.
