So, it’s in there.
Right inside here.
Behind my chest.
Eating me away inside.
Slowly tearing at my tissue, trying to be free.
Stealing my energy from me.
Taking what little strength I have and ripping at tender walls.
It’s really in there.
Slowly killing me inside.
Taking whatever it wants.
Taking from my mouth to feed its own.
Suffocating me…
Threatening to kill me…
Threatening to take my soul from me…
So it’s really in there.
Staying safe and tucked away.
Like a child, tucked in for bed.
You’re in there, while I suffer out here.
While I’m tortured by your presence.
A beast that kills more readily than any other with fangs dripping or claws ripping.
Striking more swiftly, more accurately than lightning on a mission.
Hitting me, knocking me to my core.
To save me, they burn me with waves and light that can bring your death.
A lion to destroy your death.
Evict you where others have failed to do so.
Rip you out of your happy place.
Am I ready for another round with you?
I’ve faced many dangers in my life.
I’ve gone to war, fighting enemies who’ve fired their guns at me.
I survived.
Through jungles and mud.
I survived.
But you…
You spread and mutated in my soul.
Spreading through my body.
Filling my body with a goo that was once my organs.
Running through my veins, pulling my oxygen from my body.
And all the while I was sick and fighting an invsible enemy with no arms or legs, with noguns or knives.
So, it’s really in there.
A cancerous beast…

- Like others, I know what it feels like to lose someone to cancer. My father, may he sleep in eternal peace, died from bone cancer, pancreatic cancer and I believe he also had what looked like the start of lung cancer. It hard to watch someone go through such agony like that, and feel so helpless. You looked into the mind of your grandfather and brought out what most cancer patients think about. ‘Are they ready for another round?’ Very well done.

It's always sad to hear about the origin of such a story. But it's a good one.
It reminded me of the old Classic Alien, with the chestbursters. Know you, that's a very good thing for your score. I hope you don't linger on it too long though. We all need to learn to let go. - Report As Spam
