My life......does it really matter?
"AMBARU." a voice calls.
"Yes, Oka-san?" I answer as my mother calls to me. I was daydreaming as I stared out the sliding door. My red and green eyes alert to her presence.
"Ambaru, have you completed your studies?" she asked. I smiled and grabbed one of her large books on Japanese Gods, Guardians and Goddess. She then opens it and turns to a page.
"What is this, Ambaru?" she asked as she pointed to a charcol painting of a Guardian.
"Mochidizuki Inu Tensu, the Wolf guardian. He was sealed 40 years ago by the Priestess, Takuki-san." I aswered with confidence.
"Correct." she said. "Now who is this?" she then pointed to a beautiful Goddess dressed in blue jewels and ascented with sapphire silk.
"Thats the Sapphire Dragon Goddess. Shes the protecter of our tribe. And your her." I smiled.
"Yes and you will be too, one day. But you must become a powerful, swift, and deadly Konoichi before you can harness her power." my mother explained.
My Oto-san enters the room and lays down his sword and armor.
"OTO-SAN!!!!" I say excited as I hug him. "Oto-san,....I missed you." He laughes as he holds me tight.
"I've missed you too, daughter. Felicia." he then calls to mother as she gets up from kneeling at the table.
"Dokyou, you must have very good news of the war, I presume." she asks as she walks up and kisses him, "I've missed you as well, dear."
We all sit down as my father tells us of his battles. I then again daydream of myself as the goddess of my tribe. The blue dragon would guide me as I protect the neko tribe from human invaders and intrusions from the wolf and sub-wolf tribes. I would be a powerful, deadly, and swift konoichi......
The Next Day......
"Ambaru. Your going on a hunt with me today." Oka-san explained, "Im going to teach you how to catch the perfect prey."
As we walked we got deeper and deeper into the forest. Then Oka-san spotted a young ba-uma yokai.
"there is one......" she whispered, "Now pay attention......"
"H-ii, Oka-san!" I said excitedly.
"Hush......" she whispered again as she pulled out her naginata.
Just as she was about to attack i yelled out, "Onii-sama!!!"
Oka-san was very confused, "Onii-sama?"
I then explained. "I met him a while ago out here in the forest. He lost his family in a raid so i told him to hide here. I knew no one would dare enter your hunting grounds, Oka-san."
"Hmmmm......" Felicia thought, "Very well he will live with us from now on." she smiled. "By the way what is your name, dear?"
"Ummm....its Rhombus....ma'am." he mumbled.
"Hahahahahaha, theres no need to be so formal. Just call me 'Oka-san', ok?" Felicia smiled.
"O.k.,.......Oka-san." he blushed as he rubbed his head.
We then walked back to a shack that we were gonna keep Rhombus until we could tell Oto-san about him. I stayed with himthat night.
That morning we were both woken up by Oka-san. "AMBARU,RHOMBUS, WAKE UP NOW!!!!" she yelled. "THE VILLAGE IS UNDER ATTACK!!!"
Me and Rhombus-nii both got up quickly as Oka-san grabbed our haands and rushed out the door with us.
As we ran, a large black dragon destroyed the shack we were in and approached Oka-san. He then spoke in a commanding voice, "Where are the five divine icons of Japan?!" he demanded.
"You couldn't control there power even if you were their creator!!!" she screamed as she drew her naginata.
Oto-san was trying topull himself from some rubble and he saw Oka-san fighting the beast. "FELICIA, GET OUT OF HERE!!!!" he cried but it was too late. the dragon had already tore through her stomach with his talons.
"Ambaru......Rhombus.....Gonenasai....." she whispers as the dragon drops her to the ground.
The dragon then walks towards us and speaks, "I would kill you two as well, but you're not worth my strength. But know this,....if I see you again......Ill kill you." The black dragon didn't speak another word and left.
I stood there as my mother's blood pooled at my feet. I could hear my father dying in the fires and rubble. I could also here the sounds of the tribe members dying and screaming in pain. I couldn't move.My legs were like iron. I then dropped to my knees in my mother's blood.
"Ambaru....." Oka-san whispered, "Take this....it will lead you to the Guardian....." she then handed me a sapphire prayer bead necklace."Mochidizuki will protect you......i love you both...run away from here....please....Im sorry for leaving you so soon-----*" she died after her last breathe. I kept the necklace firmly in my hand.
"AMBARU!!!!" Rhombus yelled, "WE HAVE TO GET OUTTA HERE!!!! NOW!!!"
I stared at my mother's body. I then surveyed the event. I knew this day would haunt me for the rest of my life. I looked down at my blood covered body and fainted.
"AMBARU!!!" I heard my Onii-sama screaming as I fainted. All I could see......was darkness.
