Ok, i know it might be a little far fetched, but it does have some truth. Gaia is a microcosm of the world or a country or something.
I guess i should clarify this. I suppose gaia would be more of a communistic country, in a sense (i hope the gaia police don't come for me) but this is because, when we join, we're given some money, clothes, and a house. we pay taxes (in a sense, at least we dont have to pay taxes for the games) but at least those taxes don't go towards other gaians who snuck in an account from another wesite and want us to pay for all their stuff. (ok, that's a bit far-fetched for immigration)
but gaia allows us to work for more and better ourselves. for the most part, they're out of our cyber-lives and we can enjoy ourselves. we can just hang out and do nothing, or work to make a better living.
Many gaians make their fortune on the marketplace. i know i use to NEVER go on the marketplace because i didn't want to have to buy a vending/buying license (that just tells you how much i had back then if i couldn't spend 1,500) but once i bought them, i started out small, mostly holiday collectables (like the easter chickies) i would buy for 25, sell for 50. i remember i was SO excited that i got a chicky for 5 adn i sold it for 50. i thought i was SO rich. but once i got enough money, i began to buy and sell collectables.
After the marketplace change, it became very hard to make as much gold and so i sorta stopped for a while. Once the evolving items came, though, i was back in the market and i made my biggest profits yet.
what's concerning me now is that the collectables havn't followed their regular patterns lately. usually, the item will evolve, the price will go up, and eventually go back down a bit. but in this last evolution, the prices have only been going up. i know hermes moon quadroopled (or however u spell it) in price and the graphs only show an incline. i guess i'm just wondering if this is going to be sorta like America'a housing market.
Everyone thought that buying/selling houses would be a get-rich-quick thing, but then everything collapsed! i'm just wondering if these items are going to do the same thing. it wouldn't be that bad of a deal, though. i mean, like in the housing crash, it became a buyers market. Basically, those who couldn't afford items before might be able to purchase them after a crash. it'll lower the value of many items (even monthly collectables) and possibly lower the gold value. but it would be a great time for middle-class gaians, wouldn't it?
i'm not really worried about a crash. but i'd just say be wary. i mean, the only reason i'm complaining is because i havn't been able to make any gold! and i love buying/selling. i swear i'll be a part time stock broker when i'm older. (part time so i wont commit suicide, of course) but beware, rich gaians and upper-middle class gains who wanted a get-rich-quick investment. it may come back to bit you in the but. i would adive you to sell, sell sell, but that would onset our own 'recession' even quicker. besides, who reads me anyway?
