"Ehh? There you guys are!! Yup, the cops bought it. They went off somewhere else trying find you guys," greeted a voice.
I opened my eyes and looked up. There was Gigi towering over us with a wide grin. "Whew, that was a close one. The cops asked me plenty of questions, but I kept my cool and answered most of them," explained Gigi, washing her hands in the sink. "I got out the plate just before they opened their car doors. Flinged it on the roof of the shop and there it will stay until one of you gets it,"
Jake sighed and rolled his eyes. "I'm guessing that would be me then," he mumbled, getting up and out of the box.
"Yessire. Now, you there. Come with me," she said, pointing at me.
I got up from the box, and followed her. The auto shop may look small on the outside, but it's pretty huge on the inside. Gigi took long strides, making me left behind. I had to jog just to get even with her strides. "Would ya like some refreshments?" asked Gigi, stopping at a worned out refrigerator.
"Umm, sure," I replied, not knowing what else to say.
Gigi opened the refrigerator and took out three bottles of Coke. She threw one at me and carried the other two. We walked to a table and sat down with our drinks. "So tell me, how did Jake find such a beautiful girl like you?" asked Gigi, sipping her Coke.
I blushed and replied, "I'm not beautiful at all, Gigi. Jake and I are just... well, you know. Just friends I guess,"
"You guess? So you're sure you're only friends with him?" asked Gigi, putting aside her Coke.
Why was Gigi so worried about if I'm friends with Jake or not? Other than, Gigi somehow looked familiar. I knew her from somewhere, but I can't put my finger on it. "Well? You didn't answer my question," said Gigi, with a bored expression.
"Oh, sorry, I was daydreaming. Umm, we're just friends, Gigi. Nothing more, nothing less," I replied.
"Really? What's your name then, sweetie?" questioned Gigi, leaning closer to me.
I gulped and answered, "It's Sky?"
Gigi looked shocked after I said that, and knocked down her Coke on accident. Down it went, shattering pieces of glass everywhere as it touched the floor. "Oh! Lemme help you clean it up, Gigi," I said.
"No. You sit back up here. Now," Gigi commanded, shakily.
I stopped picking up the pieces of glass and listened to her. I was surprised at Gigi's behavior; she was doing fine until I said my name. Now why would she be worried about my name? "Sky, I have something to tell you," Gigi said, softly.
I leaned forward, struggling to hear what she was about to talk about. " Do you know why Jake came to this auto shop, but not the others?" she asked.
I shook my head. I did see other auto shops surrounding this one. I do wonder why Jake chose this one. Maybe because he knew her or something? But the look on Gigi's face was serious. This was important alright. Gigi chuckled and whispered, "It's because I'm his mom, you silly goose."
