I gaped at her. I couldn't believe what was I hearing. "Y-you're Mrs. Moud? Oh my god. I mean, it's a g-great pleasure t-to see you again," I said, nervously.
"Oh, save your breath. Don't need to be so sympathetic for me and my husband. He got what he deserved," scoffed Mrs. Moud, rolling her eyes.
I was about to argue back, but someone stopped me. "Gigi! What did you tell her?!" shouted Jake, throwing down the ladder he was carrying.
Mrs. Moud quietly rose from the chair and said, "I told her everything that she needed to know. Honey, you really didn't think you could keep such a big secret away from this girl, could you?"
Jake just glared at her and stormed out the door without a word. Mrs. Moud sighed and sat down. "You know, Jake could be a stubborn mule sometimes. I just wish everything was back to normal, but life is hard. Sky, here's a piece of advice for you when you grow up: Don't ever hesitate, when the time comes, act. Or else, the moment will be forever gone," whispered Mrs. Moud, breaking into tears.
I nodded slightly, not knowing what to do. I stood up and walked toward Mrs. Moud, trying my best to comfort her. It was no use. It made her cry even more. Suddenly, the door opened. It was Jake, holding what seemed to be like car keys. He motioned me to come with him. I hesitated, but went when Mrs. Moud waved me off. I sighed as I got in Jake's pink car. Jake must have heard me and said, "Don't worry, she always does that. She'll get over it soon,"
"But what if she doesn't? You're just going to leave her there?!" I asked, angrily.
Jake shrugged. "Hey, I'm not what you call a therapist," said Jake, starting the car engine.
I rolled my eyes and looked back at the auto shop one last time as it began to became smaller and smaller until it disappeared. I heavily sighed and gave Jake "The Look." He shrugged and concentrated on the road, making sure there were no police cars. I grumbled and got out my cellphone. My parents were probably wondering where I was. I waited until someone picked up the phone. "Hello?" asked a voice.
"Hey Mom. In case you're wondering, I'm with Jake right now," I said.
"Oh ok. And sweetie, I need to warn you. I was watching the news a few minutes ago and I saw the police were trying to catch some car that was running 90 miles an hour! Tell Jake to watch out for that car. I don't want both of you to get hurt, ok? I think the car was black with flames on the side. God, teenagers these days," said Mom.
"Oh, that? Don't worry. I'm pretty sure we won't run into that car, Mom," I assured.
"Ok. I got to go. We're fresh out of pudding and your dad is getting cranky. I'll see you later,"
"Ok, bye."
I turned off the phone and leaned toward Jake and said, "Jake, my mom wants to warn you that there's a dangerous black car with flames going 90 miles per hour! You better keep your eyes peeled for that one. I really don't want you to get hurt. Oh wait! I just remembered! We're in that car right now!"
Jake rolled his eyes at me and replied, "Now's not the time for sarcasm, Sky,"
"Now's not the time for sarcasm, Sky," I copied, hoping to get him mad.
And I succeeded. Jake stopped the car suddenly, and I nearly choked on my seatbelt because of that. I straighten up and glared at him. He leaned toward me and before I could do anything, he kissed me. I tried to push him away, but he wouldn't budge. A few minutes passed, and I thought I was going to suffocate. I tried to push him away again, and he let me. "Why did you do that?" I rasped.
"Dunno. I just felt like it," teased Jake, getting ready to start the engine.
His head turned and started to smile at me. The goofy, retarded smile. My face was burning hot when he did that. "Yeah? Whatever. Let's just go home," I mumbled, trying not to look at him.
"Your wish is my command," replied Jake, chuckling to himself.
I rolled my eyes and gazed out the window, smiling.
