All Apparitions have no “true” corporal form, though taking the form of a human is more convenient, but they can change their exterior form at will. When taking on a humanoid appearance, he is tall and slender, Nevi’s body appearing built for grace and agility. Towering, over most humans at least, the white-haired ghost’s lanky figure stands at six-foot-four, weighing in at a slight underweight of 130 lbs. In spite of the fact that he’s slim, it only adds to the proficiency of his profession. He has no fat on his body whatsoever, any slight bulge deriving from muscles in his arms and legs. He is ambidextrous, able to use both of his hands at optimal capacity, making handling weaponry an easy task for him. His skin is almost a sickly pale, usually an opaque white he can appear translucent at times when his energy is low. Eyes of illuminating grey peer out from behind longish bangs, nearly matching his silvery hair in color. Nevi’s alternate form usually happens to be that of a white cat.
The clothing of his kinds are the most similar to humans -- mostly because whenever they migrate to Earth, they always take on the form of the most populated sentient being, which happen to be homo sapiens. They don’t need stuffy or constricting body armor for unneeded protection because of their near indestructible manifestation. Keeping to a usually monochrome palette, most of Nevi’s clothing is usually black, though white or some shade in between is acceptable. Rarely will he dress outside of this limited spectrum, even as it rather clashes with his bright personality. He has a particular liking for trench coats and combat boots, and is often seen wearing one, as he thinks it makes him “look cool”. His sword, which is a claymore, and has no trouble wielding it with one had. Don’t misunderstand, it’s not because he’s really that strong, but weapons of his world weigh absolutely nothing to the right user. Likewise, he can’t wield one belonging to another.
hero or villain? »
The simple fact of it is, Nevi is overly optimistic and cheerful, which others find confusing. Most don’t quite know how to handle him upon meeting, usually earning the title of “obnoxious.” He has developed an unnaturally capricious persona, fanciful nature for those of his kind, who are generally malicious, sadistic, and spiteful -- he‘s always disliked that aspect about his people. He is erratic, and is seen as a bit of an idiot because of it, and is rarely taken seriously in spite of his reputation (which most can‘t believe actually belongs to someone like him). He's also a bit slow on the uptake, especially when it comes to recognizing feelings of love, and that includes of himself and others. He’s courageous, which is his only redeeming feature in the eyes of his people, though is stubborn personality and hardheadedness makes him appear reckless. Nevi is what some may call unpredictably unpredictable. Brave, he likes to take on challenges most don’t see him capable of overcoming.
He’s constantly trying to please others (a reason why he can be so easily swayed in an argument), going out of his way to keep them happy or uplift them if they’re feeling down, and likes to keep in a perpetual state contentment. He always tries to make the best of things, even if a situation seems grave. Carefree and warm-hearted, Nevi truly cares about the feelings of others and it takes a lot to instill distrust in him. Others believe that it’s the cause of his dense personality, but in actuality, it’s because he continually tries to hope for and rely in the best of others. He forgives quickly, not particularly liking the feeling of holding a grudge because he knows where dwelling feelings of anger or hate lead to. He steers clear of harboring those types of emotions whenever possible, though he can’t stand injustice, making it increasingly hard for him to accept his own lot in life. He still sometimes reverts to his old personality -- after all, his kind are naturally chaotic creatures and bad habits are hard to break.
Unfortunately, Nevi wasn’t always such an easy-going, untroubled spirit. In the beginning, he was like all the others: heartless, vindictive, murderous. He went on for years this way, working as a Contractor -- a kind of assassin in his world -- that was usually employed by a human, who usually happened to be a resentful young school girl. It’s the singular reason why his kind is often mistaken for demons or malevolent ghosts by humans, which is why religious leaders continually try to banish them by using various forms of exorcism. His kind has played on that mentality for eons, and somehow, it’s coming around full circle much to his kind’s displeasure. It was after a certain Assignment that he changed, but those around him had to disagree that it was for the better. No one knows the details behind the event aside from himself, another Contractor named Nova, and the leader of his Syndicate. He’s constantly feeling guilty about his actions and sometimes it appears as though he has a split-personality.
long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away »
Nevi lives in a perpetual, nightmare-like realm where several mafia families substitute as the law of the land -- there is no other government. There, goblin and phantom-esque creatures roam. However, because Earth seems to coincide with several other planes of existence causing overlapping dimensions, they can easily cross over to Earth. Most things on Vedas are very similar to that of Earth, except one thing -- everyone there have the same parent, just one parent. Children are created from the Eternal Mother, Parvati, who bestows upon a willing female the burden of an infant. She is an immortal in her own right, with the attributes of a phoenix, who destroys itself and is reborn from the ashes. She is much more malevolent than her children and is very protective of them all. To those on Earth, she might be compared able to most of the great goddesses of destruction. She does not govern any aspects of their livelihoods, aside from procreating. The Mother raises all of the young until the age of ten where they are brought to a designated Family.
Children aren’t usually given a choice as to what career they were being placed in. Everything is determined by predetermined skills and powers, which are discovered by a series of aptitude tests. Once his skills were determined, each child is placed into a school to learn specific skills and to hone and acquire control over their murderous impulses. Usually, this takes a minimum of seven years. There are many casualties during these times because Apparition children are more likely to fall under the influence of underlying “Berserker” genes that are inherited from birth by their chaotic Mother. After his training was completed, Nevi was immediately placed in a Syndicate, which is a group of assassin-like military force that works under the command of a certain Family. Those who work for Syndicates are called Contractors and are something similar to the concept of “Death.” As a Contractor, his codename became “EraserRain,” which is due to either his MO, or perhaps the downpour that happens around his murder scene, washing away evidence. He’s got a reputation for being unstoppable because of the determination to finish what he starts.
His rank is quite high in his Syndicate, though this means nothing to him now. For Nevi, everything changed after his one-hundred-eightieth-or-so birthday. That year, a particular Client of his happened to be a young high school girl named Suri. It was a strange contract, as Nevi soon realized, especially when the girl told him that the one he was supposed to assassinate... was herself. This threw him off, probably for the first time in his life. She didn’t explain, and he didn’t ask. At first, he had no real problem with it -- it was just another job, after all. But as days passed, and he spent time with her (there had been a specified date to her demise), he found himself to be unsure, and he began to come up with excuses not to go follow through with his end of the agreement. What he didn’t know was that his Mentors were observing him in his own world, worried that he might not be able to follow through with the contract. He’d gotten attached, and that was forbidden. So, in this, they ordered another of his Faction to interfere if need be -- a female Apparition called Nova -- because the girl had signed a Contract of ensuring an early death, and she had to die or someone else would have to die in her place.
That day, while Suri was preoccupied with school, Nevi returned to Vedas, determined to search for a way to reverse the Contract. While he was out of the picture, Nova took it as an opening and struck, leaving Suri dying, bleeding out, on her bathroom’s floor. When Nevi returned, without success, he half-heartedly returned to Suri’s residence. It was deadly silent upon his arrival, and though it had always been a bit quiet due to the continual absence of her family, it was never like it had been on that particular day. He knew instantly that something wrong, the smell of blood alone told him that. He searched the house in a well-placed panic, following the scent of blood that had permeated the air. Half-dead by the time he found her, he held her in his arms as she passed, and he witnessed her spirit leave her body. It rained for a week in the human’s world after that incident, and Nevi fell into a depression upon returning to Vedas. Nevi changed greatly after the incident, never quite able to forgive himself. After several months, he requested to transfer to a faction of the Earthian Division, where he would then live on the planet itself and taking up miscellaneous Contracts when it was needed.
Unlike most of the sentient beings, he is probably the one who knows most about the human race, considering all the time he’s spent among them. So far, Nevi has lived as a “human” on Earth for twenty years. Until just recently, he had lived in a small town in Texas, USA. Finding it was time to pick up and move again (those in the Earthian Division are required to relocate every twenty or so years for the sake of appearance. Now, he’s been transferred to Cardiff, England, which he’s still trying to get used to. But he is starting to think something is definitely wrong… All contact with his home has been blocked and sealed by an outside source. In fact, he can’t even get into contact with any of his kind on Earth, even by using his inter-dimensional gateways -- they only redirect him to totally random places on Earth. What’s the deal?

He has a tendency to give people nicknames, usually, they are the irritating kind. Nevi has an aptitude for being able to take things apart and putting them back together. Whether or not they work right or not is debatable. Poor boy just doesn’t seem to know the meaning of personal space.

Ghost stories: they're just plain amusing. Figuring out how things work is something that will never get old to him. Simple things -- he’s very easy to preoccupy. Eating ridiculously spicy foods, but also food, in general. Books that have just pictures in them. People with "hard-to-get" personalities are the most intriguing to him. His sword: yes, as you can see, he even sleeps with the thing.

Priests of most religions: especially Exorcists. Being called a ghost: it’s “A-P-P-A-R-I-T-I-O-N” okay? His job and the work that obviously comes with it. Destructive emotions. Bullies. He just won’t tolerate any mistreatment of innocents.

For such a young Apparition, Nevi is quite powerful. His powers are various, and include but are not limited to: intangibility and atomic regeneration (though he tends to call it instant reformation) where he can dematerialize himself into a mass of white particles, passing through things he couldn't have otherwise. He can travel through white noise, command shadows, and is the owner of a destructive black hole in the palm of his left hand. His two strengths lie in stealth and evasion: in other words, he’s pretty much only good for surprise attacks and running away, though his swordplay isn't too shabby. Nevi can create and manipulate water, or more specifically, the molecules found in water. Because of this, it seems as though he can form it out of thin air. The only other offensive ability he has allows him to fire energy blasts from his hands. Not surprisingly, he is more powerful at nighttime, or around water. Finally, like all of his kind, he has a penchant for possession of others, though they need to be entirely willing, or have weaker mental abilities for him to completely take over.
