Tears of the Sakura...

Dear Takashi Yuna,

“I could never get over the fact that you loved me so much. That I loved you. You always held me close to your heart in that tight embrace. Your arms wrapped around me, telling me promises of ever lasting happiness. I never forgot over this long period of time. We had promised that we would be together forever. But then you vanished past a veil of darkness that I could not penetrate. When, at last I could see you; you were bent over my body. Your eyes shut tight, your hand in mine... for the last time. This moment should have lasted forever, until... you left.”

“...My Name Is Yukisora Kusinagi...”

“It was mid spring, and we were seated under a Sakura tree watching the clouds above us. It was where we were every Sunday for a picnic. We had been there for several hours talking, laughing, and just sitting there holding each other’s hands. We were engaged to be married several weeks, and we could not have been happier. You looked into my eyes as I looked into yours. And, as our lips met, we conveyed every unspoken word to each other in that moment. We had promised to meet each other later that evening for the Sakura Fireworks Festival in the park. As we left our shady spot, I could never have known that this would be our last few happy moments together. I was about to leave my apartment to meet you, when I realized that the apartment building I was living in was on fire and I would not be able to escape. I tried to crawl to the door when I collapsed as several wooden beams came crashing down on me. As I took my last few breathes, I heard the door burst open, and I heard you call my name. I had never been so happy and so scared to hear your voice again. I called out weakly to you. You then kneeled down and dug me out of the mess. Then you gently picked me up and carried me out of the fiery chasm. My mind becomes quite blurry at this point, but I remember being brought into the ambulance and I remember your terrified face. My mind becomes blank again until around the time we reached the hospital and you were bent over my body as I was moved into the emergency room as I saw you for the last time.”

“After the accident in the fire I was given a thirteen- percent chance of survival. I struggled to breathe as I was wheeled in. Because of the low percentage doctor Daisuke, the leading expert and surgeon, was really hesitant to perform the operation that saved my life. In fact, he would not have done it, if Master had not come. I owe my miraculous “rebirth” to Master. In the emergency room there where many others from the fire that needed treatment. All of them had a higher percentage than me, why should the hospital waste their time on someone who would not even survive the operation? Why, because of Master. Master walked in on all of the confusion and told Daisuke to, actually he told him he had to or Daisuke would be killed. So the operation commenced and my life was spared. However, the operation put such a strain on heart that I went into a coma for three years exactly. But I still survived, but you were tired of waiting and gave up on me. You pretended that I was dead. And, of course this all fit in to Master's grand scheme.”

“When at last I awoke after my long slumber I looked for you, I called out to you, begged you to come back to my side! I broke down in the hospital room! Why did you leave me?! Where did you go?! I then found out that you thought I was dead and moved back to America to help you forget about the tragedy in Kyoto. My grief seemed to be endless, an ocean of tears streaming down my face, and there was no one to comfort me. After several days of this I stopped eating, sleeping, and just sat there wishing for a quick end. But I couldn’t even move, let alone end my life. That terrified face seen everyday, imprinted into my heart.”

“What kept me alive?, you may ask. Master. His laughter brought me out of the prison I built for myself. He took me with him to his home. At his house he took care of me, and I began to regain my strength. When I became strong enough I ran away to find you. I searched for a little more than a year when at last I found you. You were the same as when I last found you, you were happy. I started to run to you, until I saw her. She was a beautiful girl, young, blond, blue eyes. She was also holding a young child in her arms. And you had your arms wrapped around them the same way you always had your arms wrapped around me!”

“It finally made sense, why you left. You left for her! You never loved me! NEVER!”

“I came back to Master’s house. He was not angry with me and he accepted me with open arms. And there I became his servant. An assassin. And my first assignment was to kill you. At first I thought I could never even see you again, could never look into your eyes. But, then the thought of ending your life gave me such joy, it was unbearable. Master had always hated you. But he would never bloody his own hands, so he came to find me. He needed someone who also hated you. But there was no one, no one had ever had a quarrel with you, he needed someone who had nothing to lose, someone who could to take the blame easily. He used me like one of his tools. But I do not feel any hatred toward him, in fact, I feel eternally grateful to him.”

“That terrified face of yours is the one I loved most. The one I inspired as I killed you. I always loved you, even to today as your blood drips off my hands. I could not live with out you, so now I will have you forever.”

Sincerely,
Yukisora Kusinagi

“Who ever reads this letter I wrote to him you know were to find me if you think what I did was wrong. I’m still in that park where I had killed him, embracing his body close to mine...forever.”
