Such a nice dream, and it had been ruined. By what? Well, the Mightyena did not know, but it was loud and he was determined to find out. Opening his crimson eyes lazily, the wolf-like pokemon yawned, his sensitive ears twitching at the noise in the distance that sounded like fighting. The dark-type growled to himself and stood up slowly, stretching his arms above his head as the early sunlight filtered through the leaves above him. The tree has provided a nice napping spot, but now the quiet, peaceful area was being invaded by the sounds of battle. How annoying…the wolf thought to himself, searching force the source of the battle.
No wonder it was so loud, the battle had been taking place so close. And between a Seviper and a Zangoose no doubt. That was one rivalry that the wolf did not want to involve himself in. The mongoose did not look like he was in good shape anyway; his claws were stuck in the ground and by the look of things, that Seviper was going to make his killing blow soon.
The wolf yawned boredly. He had seen hundreds of battles between those rivals and always turned a blind eye to them. He was too young to get himself killed over a blood feud that was not even any of his concern. The Mightyena stood up from the tall grass and began walking away. It really was of no concern of his who lived and who died in that fight. The wolf stopped though as the tang of copper stung his nose and slowly he looked over his shoulder, blinking past his black hair, seeing the Seviper was poised to strike, the Zangoose before him frozen in place.
It took only a moment but before he knew it, the Mightyena was standing between the two, snarling threateningly and baring his fangs at the snake. He had interrupted right on time. Taking a step toward the snake pokemon, Yena felt no fear, but watched as the Seviper’s expression changed from pleased to disappointed, a twinge of annoyance flashing in his eyes as he scoffed angrily before turning and slithering away.
As soon as the snake was gone, the wolf was aware again of the stench of blood and wrinkled his nose in disdain, listening to the mongoose behind him struggling in getting his hand free. He thought he caught something about the snake cheating, but that wasn’t important. Looking at the silver haired pokemon from the corner of his eye, he did not look at much older then him and he gave the situation a thin frown. Was the other really that stupid?
“Use Fury Cutter on the ground’s surface.” He interrupted the Zangoose’s curses, raising a brow as he heard the earth break behind him. He was so excited, but for what? He had needed help getting free. The wolf could only imagine what would have happened to the foolish pokemon if he had not been there to assist.
Not only that, but the smell of blood was making him dizzy. There was only one thing he hated more than humans and that was blood. It reminded him of the past, when he had just evolved….
Kneeling down, the wolf eyed the gash on the mongooses’ arm that he had been nursing and noticed that it did not look that deep, bet the trickle of blood could prove fatal if not treated. In the back of his mind, Mightyena noted that he did not look poisoned, which was a good thing, but you could never be too sure with Sevipers.
Blinking as the mongoose suddenly grinned, he was a little taken aback by the thanks he was begin given. He hadn’t even really done anything. Obviously the rival he had been facing was weak since just at one growl he had turned tail and ran away. There was nothing to be thanking him for.
“Hn…whatever.” He grunted and stood up, walking back in the direction of his home. Maybe he could get some nice sleep there…
