I notice that the opinion of guns being "good or bad" can vary greatly based on location. In big cities there is more gang violence as opposed to small towns which usually have a higher percentage of hunters.

First off I will say my opinion of guns being good or bad is neutral. This might seem odd because I'm the kind of guy who really likes guns. Morally the gun itself is neutral though. Guns don't choose who or what they shoot at. It's the way they are used which can be good or bad. Shooting at inanimate objects for target practice isn't really bad. Using your gun to kill someone and take their money isn't all that good. It all depends on what you do.

That being said I do like guns. I live in a small town where many people own guns. I've only heard of one shooting the entire time I lived in this town. Supposedly someone was going to sell a gun to a minor, the two of them got high, and the owner apparently shot the minor. That was stupidity on the owners behalf.

I see gun bans as oppression of the law abiding citizen. Take for example people who shoot up a post office or other federal buildings. Federal buildings ban guns. Now here's the question. If you wanted to go into the building and kill people with a gun would the "no guns" sign deter you from going through with it? If I were a criminal I would assume that would mean nobody inside could fight back.
