I was saving up for a new design on farmville. On the 27th I made an entry showing a swastika armband I made of hay bales. Now this has changed. After about half an hour of planning with a graph paper template on paint I designed this. I was pleased with how it turned out. The blue field is just about perfect and all the stripes sync up just right as to the real flag. The flag is 39 x 62 hay bales which at 125 coins a bale costs 302,250 coins. I recycled the bales from the armband so I saved about 40,000 coins or so.
My friend Al joined farmville which helped me expand just as far as I needed it. Whatever room wasn't taken by my block cheat or the swastika was loaded with tomatoes which at the moment are the best available cash crops for me. After harvesting my tomatoes this morning I figured I would have enough to build my flag. First I spent about 10 minutes deleting all the crop plot areas where the flag would be. I used red bales to calculate how far down the pattern would go. Simple math 13 stripes at 3 bale thickness per stripe showed just how far I needed to go.
After measuring and deleting fallow soil I needed to start moving stuff. I marked the very ends of the stripes with the red/white bales from the swastika. The gray ones I sold back because I didn't need them. Anyway after that was done I put the rest of the bales in the bottom most stripes to get them out of the way. After they were out of the way I got to purchasing blue bales to mark the borders of the blue field mostly to mark the left end of the top stripes. After that I bought enough red bales to make the red stripes followed by enough white for the white stripes.
The blue field was a bit of an annoyance. There was supposed to be 2 layers of plain blue bales on each border before I started putting in stars. I forgot one layer on top so the stars were off center so I had to move things around.
The whole project took about an hour and a half. I gained a couple levels out of it too.
