I used to go to a christian school for 6 years. I slacked off a lot, especially in the last 2 years. Their process of education is you work out of work books. You complete 12 books per subject per year and you advance a year. In the last 2 years there I only did about 1/2 a year of work so I lost a year and a half of progress. I went to public school to go to high school and decided that with 1/2 a year of freshman education I might as well just enroll as a freshman. Every once in a while I have these random dreams where I'm going back to the private school because I need 1 more credit of English to graduate.
I didn't especially like the private school. Teachers played favorites to a bit of an extreme. Some students could treat others like total trash and get away with it while other students would get in trouble for "violations" that didn't really break the rules. They have a demerit system with up to 3 demerits per violation. In one instance I wasn't wearing my glasses so I get 3 demerits for being out of dress code. The dress code never stated anywhere I had to wear them.
Anyway I didn't get along with most students and I didn't get along with the teachers. The head teacher/principal I never got along with at all. In the last 2 years I didn't want to be there at all and I figured that school was a waste of my time.
1. When I am not a perfect drone they would often guilt trip me to try and make me behave.
2. They had ridiculous rules. For example you can not dance or listen to any music other than church hymns and classical music. This includes at home.
3. The curriculum was too heavily influenced by religion. Being a Christian school I could understand Bible verse memory and other religious influences, but the religion was too strong. I barely learned any history at all. World War II for example was summed up in one half a book which was about a week of learning. That also included the great depression and the holocaust. The events that lead up to the war weren't even explained. It's just Hitler invades Europe, ??, Profit.
Anyway my slacking off got me in a lot of trouble with the principal. Looking back I wish I could relive the arguments with him. He told me he has to turn away a lot of people applying for the school each year so that I can attend. I directly remember the pastor stating in a couple sermons that the private school was leeching off of church funds because the private school wasn't making enough income. There were always some open desks too they could have used. Assuming that both pastor and principal were not BSing me then they are total idiots because they could just as well let more people into the school.
