Vaughn: *Knocks on the door*
Kevin: Should we really be here without Adam knowing?
Vaughn: Just relax. If we're ever gonna defeat the Glorfians we might as well know about our own team.
Kevin: Alright then. That Melany chick is HOT.
Vaughn: Ignoring that.
When Melany opened the door, I did realize what Kevin was talking about. Although hot wasn't how I'd put it. She was just naturally beautiful looking at her up close. Though I couldn't tell if she was wearing makeup or not. When you live with a bunch of roommates who are all guys, you'd either have to wear it all the time to impress them, or not wear any at all because you're considered one of them.
Melany: *Slightly taken aback* Oh, um, hey! Where's Adam? *Pokes her head out of the door, looking for him*
Vaughn: Probably curled up in the basement. Can we come in?
Melany: Oh. Uh, sure.
Kevin: Thanks. *Whispers to Vaughn: Score!*
Melany: *Sits on the couch* Was there something you wanted?
Kevin: We just wanted to hang out here for a bit. You know, actually do something besides fighting an alien race.
Melany: I didn't mean it that way.
Vaughn: Excuse him. But we wanted to get to know you better.
Melany: What do you wanna know?
Kevin: What do you think we should know?
*Silence*
Melany: We were a team. Me, all the guys, and Adam... We fought them while we were young, and we were also very naive and foolish. We let our guard down a lot, and have gotten outsmarted one too many times. Our parents were also Glorfian fighters... They all died in battle, leaving us here. Even Adam's father. The threats stopped after that. Then you two came along, and Adam became close to you, which is extremely dangerous considering you didn't even know about the Glorfians back then. Adam was vulnerable, Glorfax came and abducted him, and then rest is history. Anything else?
Vaughn: I'm sorry about your parents. All of yours.
Melany: It's alright... We swore we'd never let them take Earth and get revenge on them for what they've done.
Melany was very mature for her age. She was only about 15, but she had to grow up fast considering her parents were murdered by Glorfax. I sort felt sorry for her because the only family she really had were her team members...
Kevin: Wow... That's horrible.
Melany: It is, but life goes on, and we can't all dwell in the past. We need to keep looking forward to the future.
Vaughn: That's true. Have you ever heard of this dark demon thing?
Melany looked like she was about to have a heart attack.
Melany: Yes. Are you asking because it...? *Points to him*
Vaughn: That's what Adam told me.
Kevin: It's supposedly very dangerous.
Melany: It is! You have no idea what you're dealing with. Glorfax harvests humans who have its dark energy and uses it on his own goons. That's what he's been doing for centuries, and even the ones before him.
Vaughn: So, Glorfax can use my dark energy for his own army...?
Melany: Yes. So you can't keep your guard down or let him get his hands on you. If he does, can can extract your power directly and if that happens...
Kevin: He'd be practically invincible.
Melany: *Nods*
This was too much to take in. I was a weapon, and maybe a stepping stone for Glorfax's plan to take over the galaxy.
Vaughn: So what should I do? Stay home and never go out out of fear he might use me?
Melany: No, but I do suggest you learn to use your powers before Glorfax does or things get out of hand.
Kevin: I say we try now.
Melany: Alright then, let's see what you can do.
We stepped in the backyard and Melany set up a few targets for me.
Melany: Try doing what you learned so far.
I extended my arm, palm facing dead center toward the target, and I felt a weird sensation in my gut. There was an almost icky feeling. Chills ran down my spine,
and it felt like a dozen centipedes were crawling up my left arm until I let out a thick dark purple beam that destroyed the entire target.
Melany: *Grins* We could really use you.
Vaughn: *Smiles back at her* That's what teammates are for.
Kevin: Right...
We practiced our skills all that afternoon, and as we did, I was thinking about how I was being trained to either defend or destroy the world.
