The bell rang for school.
Vanessa and Nicole: *Runs up to Vaughn and Kevin* Where the HELL were you?!
Kevin: Whoa, whoa! What's the problem?
Nicole: The problem is you guys skipping school, when the first semester just started!
Vaughn: We aren't concerned about that. We have bigger problems.
Vanessa: Yeah, like failing 9th grade maybe?
Vaughn: You don't even know.
We all walked through the halls and into homeroom.
Vanessa: *Angrily* What do you mean "You don't even know?!"
Kevin: Relax, we have other stuff to deal with.
Nicole: What else is more important than not coming to school?
Kevin: Stuff.
Vanessa: As if you guys have bigger problems than this. It's like I don't even know you.
Vaughn: We do have bigger problems. WAY bigger. But it's not your problem, so don't worry about it.
Nicole: *Leans in and whispers* Are you guys... selling drugs?
Kevin: What? No! We aren't!
Vanessa: Then what?
Vaughn: *Sighs* I wish I could tell you, but I can't.
Vanessa: If we guess will you tell us?
Kevin: You'll never guess. So don't bother.
Vanessa looked really angry. I guess she was the type of girl that hated not knowing things. And I knew she wouldn't give up. She'd find out one way or another, and if she did, her and Nicole would be in danger, and even worse... she'd think we were freaks.
Vaughn: I really wish we could, but we can't.
Vanessa: Whatever...
Nicole: If you wanted to, then you would.
Kevin: It's not that easy.
Vanessa: You know what is easy? *Gets up and walks away*
Nicole: *Gets up and follows her*
Vaughn: Great, we have to defend the Earth, and they get mad at us for it.
Kevin: They don't understand, dude.
Vaughn: I guess.
All day, I was spaced out. I was thinking about a few things. Melany. I did kind of like her. We've been training for a little while, trying to control my dark powers, and she's been giving me a few signals. But that could be nothing, I mean she lived in a house full of guys. If she liked anyone it should be one of them. I thought about Glorfax. How he wasn't dead after I battled with him a few months ago. He was pretty banged up. But he did escape. My new priority at that point was to find him and destroy him along with the rest of his empire.
After school, we all talked on the way home.
Vanessa: I'm just saying that if you want to be our friends, we have to trust you.
Vaughn: Meaning you have to trust us. It's just not something you wanna know.
Kevin: Is it really the end of the world if we don't tell you?
Vaughn: *Ahem!*
Kevin: Sorry.
Just then, they froze. Everything seemed to be frozen in fact. Like we were stopped in time. An old man in a light gray cloak stepped out of a black portal in front of us. He spoke to us in a raspy voice.
???: Hello there.
Kevin: Who the hell are you?!
???: I am Zemnax.
Vaughn: That's odd. So you're a Glorfian?
Zemnax: Yes, human, I am.
Kevin: Mind explaining why we shouldn't kill you right here?
Zemnax: I came to warn you.
Vaughn: Warn us of what, geezer?
Just then, he pulled back his hood. His face was very pale. Like he never got any sunlight. His hair was sort of like Einstein's, long, white wispy thin hair.
Zemnax: Warn you that Glorfax has been planning an invasion.
Kevin: We knew that.
Zemnax: It will come sooner than you think, you arrogant one.
Vaughn: How long?
Zemnax: I am not sure. I am not in the know with Glorfax any more. But I do know that he is putting together his army faster than I thought, training young Glorfians.
Kevin: Okay then. Is that it?
Zemnax: Keep your guard up, and prepare your forces. He will attack soon, and go after everything you care about.
Vaughn: Sure.
Zemnax: Heed my warning, young heroes...
Then he faded away, and everything sped up back to normal pace.
Nicole: *Ahem!*, What?
Kevin: Um. Nothing. Nevermind.
Vanessa: Whatever, try talking to us when you actually wanna tell us something.
Vaughn: Will do.
Nicole: *Scoffs and walks away*
Vanessa: *Walks away with her*
Vaughn: Looks like we got an invasion on our hands, Kev.
Kevin: Looks like.
