Hello my peep's lol!
Well I noticed that the last time I posted up a chapter of Lucky was on Christmas Eve and since this chapter was written during the summer, I hesitated with it cause I didn't have the fifth chapter done. With the problem I encounter all of last semester at State, I was on steroids trying to keep up with my class assignments. About this chapter though...I had to use my imagination since well I didn't know so much on the particular person the character Andrew is based on so I had to use my imagination and resorces of manga I had read a while back in '09 to better get an idea for Andrew, although I was shocked with the end of this chapter (I myself was left wide eye) I hope that those who read it will enjoy it. Again this is a rough, rough, ROUGH draft so there are a LOT of typos and errors in grammer throughout the chapter, hopefully I am able to fix this during the summer or whenever I have time.
Thank you to those who have been keeping up with the story, I hope you will enjoy this chapter because unfortunately this chapter will be the only chapter up until I can find time to write the sixth or seventh chapter. Chapter five is completed but I want you guys wanting more so yeah. Music used for inspiration was BIGBANG's Lollipop 2 Remix mrgreen
ENJOY! 4laugh
*Again lazy at fixing spacing xp *
Rage
Andrew and I became closer then peanut butter and jelly put together. September passed and things became more blurry, my script like life was leaving slowly and steadily, I didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing but, I paid little interest to it. It was the month of October and the weather was beginning to change from hot to cold. I walked to the councilors office and saw that Andrew was already there sorting out some papers.
“Hey! What’s up?” I said as I set my backpack on the floor and text books on the table.
He looked up and smiled.
“Hey, nothing much, just doing some paper work for the councilor.”
“Want me to help you, you could finish faster that way and won’t have to pass them out by yourself?”
It took him a moment before he could give me a yes or a no on my offer.
“I think the councilor has something else for you, or at least that’s how I interpreted it when she asked me if you were here right now.”
Startled at the fact that I had a specific job to do, I took his word and headed over to the councilors office.
I knocked on the door and walked in.
“Did you want to see me sir?”
He looked up from his paper work and stared at me.
“Yes, I would like you to run these papers to the ASB room; it’s on the Halloween fair and dance that they are doing. Can you also tell Ms. Nunez if she could also have the ASB president sign at the bottom? Apparently he forgot.”
And handed me the papers. I took a look at them as I went walking out of his office ad into the main councilor’s office. I bumped in to Andrew as I read the part where it said…
“Permission to wear costumes”
“My bad. Reading things that I shouldn’t be reading.” And let out a wryly laugh.
“I could tell; what is it? What did he want you to do?” He said as his face glowed with excitement.
“The Halloween fair and dance that ASB is doing, you know the seniors this year want their Prom to be in that one hotel, what’s it called?”
“You mean the one where you can see the bay?”
“Yeah that one, I don’t remember the name of it, it always slips my mind.”
“So, what about it?”
“Oh no, I was just saying that they want their Prom to be held their but it’s expensive so they are trying to do everything that they can to get it reserved. So I guess this might be the first year we have a Halloween fair and dance event.”
He looked at the papers with me and read some of the things that they were asking out loud.
“Permission to wear costumes, permission to have a haunted house, permission to use the school’s gym to have dance there, wow, they really want to go all out. Sucks though because it’s so much money that they won’t even get half of what they earn to get the place reserve.”
“True but last year’s seniors had lots of money left over that this year’s seniors get to use some of it so, I don’t know how that might work for them.”
I sighed and then looked at the pack of envelops that he carried.
“Are you really delivering all of those to all the classes?”
He looked at them and then looked at me.
“I guess, or I think I have a specific area I’m assign.”
I looked at him and then the envelope’s, then I stared at him and the paper in my hand. I let out a sigh and looked to see if there was any one else around that could help him.
“Alright, since I guess that there is no one to help you why don’t you follow me to the ASB room and drop off a stack of envelopes and then I can help you distribute them much easier that way. How bout it? Are you willing to take my offer?”
He laughed and said sure.

I carried half the stack of envelopes so that he wouldn’t have to crash into anything (even though he deserved it for the trash can incident). Once we reached our destination I put the envelopes down on the table and walked over to Ms. Nunez or at least I assumed that that was her.
She was a short slender lady with rectangular glasses; she wore a white button up blouse with a black wine skirt. She wore flip flops instead of heels (might have been tired of wearing heels all over the place), and seems out of place at one point. I walked over to her as Andrew gave the ASB president a package of manila envelopes to him to distribute out.
“Ms. Nunez?” I asked a bit uncertain.
She looked up blinking twice and waited for me to continue.
“Mr. Roberts wanted me to give this to you.” I said as I handed her the papers.
She examined them carefully and saw what exactly was missing.
“Did he need anything else?” she asked in this high pitch voice.
“Um, no I don’t think so, if anything else is needed you may call him; I have no further information on the subject.”
“Oh, alrighty then I will call him and see if anything else is needed.”
I nodded once in response to her and turned around to see Andrew already waiting for me by the door.
I walked over to the desk I had left the envelops and quickly picked them up and left.

“So what else did you end up reading, do you know at least the date of the event?”
“It’s kinda obvious that it would be on Halloween so there’s hardly any point in me telling you that’s on the 31st of this month.”
“True, but did you read the time?”
I hesitated, I started to think really hard if I had read the time or not.
“I’m guessing you didn’t its taking you a while just to answer.”
I rolled my eyes and walked in to a class room to leave a pack of envelopes to a teacher and then headed out to find Andrew already distributing another pack of envelopes to his third class. Once he was out I stuck my hand out for him to give me another pack of envelopes.
“Um, I don’t think so; you’re too slow at distributing out envelopes.” He said and walked away.
“Excuse me? Whose idea was it to go with you and help you out?” I said eying him.
“Yours but, your dragging me with you and I know that you can’t hand out passes fast enough like I can.”
I was left wide eyed.
He continue to walk on a head and I decided to walk back to the councilor’s office. Once I was inside, the councilor called me in to go back to the ASB room and pick up some paper work that were ready to be sent out.
I walked out and heard the bell ring.
Great. Now I knew I wasn’t going to find no one and I didn’t like walking when no one was on campus. I quickly ran to the ASB room and found Ms. Nunez getting her things ready to go and the ASB president getting things ready for the next day.
“Do you have the paper for Mr. Roberts?” I asked, a bit out of breath.
They both looked up and Ms. Nunez looked for the paper all over the mess that was on her desk.
I walked over and helped her looked for the paper that she had described and began to think that there was no place for me to go in a hurry so, why was I so worried?
I took my time looking everywhere for it, I even asked her if she had accidentally put in her bag while she was in a hurry. We might have been able to flip the room upside down if it was our own last alternative but, we couldn’t. She had apologized to me and told me that she would talk to Mr. Roberts once she got home. I left the class room exhausted, my back was hurting and I was tired and waiting to get home when my cell phone vibrated.
It was Andrew.
Where are you?
I texted back.
I’m walking to the councilor’s office.
I was about to open the door when my phone vibrated again.
Come over to the parking lot.
Ok, so does he have my things?
I walked over to the parking lot and saw his truck parked exactly where he always parks it.
I headed over when my phone vibrated again.
It was Lauren.
Do u want 2 come w/ me & Steph 2 go buy our costumes; u can bring Andrew if u want.
Costume shopping? With Andrew?
I read the message who knew how many times until I finally came to a decision.
Sure, what time?
I walked over to Andrew’s truck and saw my backpack in the back seat.
“Hey, I saw your backpack on the floor and Robert’s told me that you were running an errand.”
“Yeah, Ms. Nunez couldn’t find the paper so I was told to go home, she was going to call him and tell him that she couldn’t find the paper’s he needed.”
“Is it about the event thing?”
“I don’t know, it might be.”
We were silent and he felt a bit tensed by that.
“Are you mad at me?”
I looked at him as he came to a stop light.
“What would-” I was interrupted by my own phone.
Just head on over 2 Spoke & we’ll be outside, ok?
I quickly texted Lauren and then left my phone out.
“Who was that?”
“Lauren, she wants us both to go to Spoke so that we can get our costumes. By both, I mean you, me, Lauren and Stephanie.”
“So then drive over to Spoke?” he asked a bit confused.
“Yeah, unless you don’t want to then I can go on bus, I know for a fact that Michael will be home with his friends so, I prefer to be out with those two then being harassed by his “buddies”.”
“Alright, are we going to buy costumes or…”
“That’s the thing, I don’t know, but just in case, I have my credit card and you can just tell them that you are just looking, that you’ll buy yours later.” I said and looked out the window.
“I feel like there’s something wrong with you. Did I do something?” he said, changing the conversation.
I didn’t think it was fair for me to say anything, I mean he knew what he did and I think he should know ahead before asking if he did anything wrong. Never the less, I felt like I should say nothing but, I knew it wouldn’t end with me saying nothing.
“If you think there’s something wrong with me, then there is, and if there isn’t then there isn’t.”
“Is it what I told you, is that what has you pissed off?”
I didn’t say anything. He was mad at me now when it should be backwards; I should be mad at him. I just sighed and kept on looking outside.
He drove in silence up until we came to the store. I didn’t even see Lauren and Steph anywhere so I assumed that they were inside.
“Hold on.” He said before I even opened the door.
I sat there waiting for him to continue but he never did so I took that as he wanted me to go first.
“No I’m not mad, just offended if that’s the right word. I didn’t like the fact that you said that when all I was trying to do was help. You could have told me earlier that you didn’t need my help, there for we wouldn’t have been in this mess.” I said and opened the car door.
I close the door and started to walk away from the car, I never heard him opened the door once so I assumed that he was leaving, didn’t matter. I could just take the city bus but Laruen and Stephanie would most likely not let me go and instead offer me to get a ride with one of them. Over all, I knew that Andrew wasn’t going to talk to me, so I would expect that Luis would try to spill what happened, Lain would be mad at me, Rick would be neutral, and Steve would enjoy the show. I let out a heavy sigh and just wondered what I was going to do.
I walked in to the store and saw all the Halloween things they had. I walked in looking at every ailed then, walked into one where they had all these spiders and demons on display. I wasn’t afraid, in the contrary, I felt like none of the spiders looked right and the demons looked more like something use to scare little kids instead of grown kids. I stayed there and stared at one demon in particular, its face reminded me of someone I couldn’t put my finger on.
Michael.
Not really but, I wish it did.
I looked at it even closer, analyzing it until, it came to me.
I gasped in disbelief and shock at what my mind had produced.
I quickly walked away and began to look for Stephanie and Lauren in the costume section of the store.
I had a pretty good idea that both would be in the princess area, I was begging to wonder if they both brought their boyfriends with them so that they could both go as prince. The simple thought of that made me feel nauseas and I quickly shook the thought out of my head.
I walked over to the girly part of the costumes and found only Stephanie there, indecisive of what costume to pick. I walked over to her and stood next to her until she finally noticed I was there.
“Sammy! How long have you been standing there?”
“For some time now.”
“I can’t make up my mind, can you help me; Lauren went to another section and I don’t know when she’ll come back.”
I stared at the costumes that she had in her hand and then her.
This was going to be hard to please her.
“Sure.” I said and let her rambled on about what costume she liked but what costume Dex would love on her. I noticed that she wanted to go with the more traditional Snow White and that Dex would love her to go as the sexy version of Snow White.
“Steph, I don’t know what to say, why don’t you just try them both and have either Lauren or me to take a picture and send it to Dex so that he can decide which one looks fine on you? I’m sure he’ll be honest and maybe that way you could debate with him and tell him if the costume looks fine or not.”
“That’s a great idea Sammy! I love you so much right now, we should get Lauren, I think she has a better idea on what costume she wants.” And dragged me with her a different section of costumes.
I saw that Lauren had at least 5 different costumes with her, none of which I was expecting her to choose, but then again, Lauren was known for her wild ideas.
She greeted me the exact way that Steph had and she was ready to try on her pick.
“So what about you Sam? Are you getting any?” Lauren asked as she noticed that I had nothing in my hands.
“I’ll see what they have while you two try on yours.”
“Oh no, you’re going to get one right now so that we can send it to Andrew.”
“Why Andrew? It’s not like I like him or he likes me.” I said and started walking towards the dressing rooms.
“Yeah that’s what you think, but we see the way he looks at you.”
“Listen here, Andrew already has someone else in his mind, and I’m pretty sure I know who it is.”
“Oh yeah, who?”
“It’s Lain.”
I could feel no footsteps behind me, so I turned around and saw a Lauren and Stephanie wide eyed shocked.
“Well, are you guys going to try them on or not?” I said and walked towards the dressing room.
They both got in pretty quiet and I began to wonder if they knew something that I didn’t. While they tried them on I went and looked for a costume to lighten up the mood between us.
I looked for something that didn’t make me feel degrading or something that was either scary. I searched and searched and then caught site of a costume that I would wear and they would say cute. I grabbed it and walked backed to the dressing and walked in to a stale. At first, it looked more complicate then the pictured showed it and I was beginning to wonder if this was a bad choice, but I followed through.
Once I had the first part in, I quickly put on the rest.
“Hey Sam, where are you?” I heard Lauren ask.
“Sam?”
“I’m in one of the stales; I’m trying on a costume.”
“Ok, just tell us when you’re done so that we can see you and you can tell us if our choices are good.”I heard Steph in the background.
I quickly tried on the rest and then, once I looked at the pictured and looked at myself to see if it was correct; I walked out.
“Ok, where are you two?”
“Not here at the moment, they went to get some other things.”
I turned around to see Andrew leaning against the wall. My face flushed with embarrassment at the fact that he was looking at me in this thing.
I turned around when I heard a gasp in the background and then a squeal.
“SAMMY! You look so cute in that, what are you suppose to be?”
Oh boy, that wasn’t what I was going for.
“I’m supposed to be a Sheppardes’, except I don’t like looking like a stripper.”
I quickly began to walk into the dressing room when Steph stopped me and told Lauren to get costume number 364 in a large and bring it over while she took me to look for the accessories.
Andrew tried to fallow but Steph told him to stay there and guard our things.
As I was paraded almost all over the store, Steph finally brought me to the area that she wanted to take me too. She had found a Sheppard’s staff thingy (honestly I had no idea what it was exactly but I had seen the picture), she grabbed it and then took me to a different area of the store to try on some shoes to go along with. As soon as she was finished with me, she braided my hair in two and then dragged me to the dressing room. As soon as we got there, Lauren was waiting for someone to come out.
“Is he trying it out?” Steph asked her.
“Yup, he was confused at first but laughed at the idea.”
“Cool, now Sammy, stand over there and don’t turn around until we say so, ok?”
I didn’t argue, I had no strength to argue with them but I was a bit scared on what exactly they were getting US into, even when Andrew was already more into the idea.
“Ok, I’m done.”I heard him say from the dressing room. The suspense was beginning to kill me.
“Oh my gosh! Andrew you look fantastic, now we have our self’s something going on.”
“Can I now turn around?”I asked, impatiently now.
“Wait just a little bit more,” Lauren said “just putting the last few details on him.”
I don’t know how long I stood there but the shoes were beginning to kill my feet. I couldn’t feel at first but a hand was touching my shoulder. When I turned around to see who it was I jumped up and let out a small shriek.
“What are you trying to do? Give me a heart attack?” I said putting my hand on my chest.
He laughed and looked in the mirror.
“Does the tail make my butt look big?”He asked us.
Steph and Lauren just laughed and told us to buy both of the costumes and go to the Halloween fair that ASB was putting up. I stared at him and he stared at me, then we both looked at them and said ‘no’.
“Why? You two look so good in them. Come on, you two have to buy them.” Steph said in protest.
“I’m not going to the Halloween Fair thing at our school, I’m just going to be at home and just hand out candy, plus I’ve been placed on probation at home, don’t want to get into trouble.” I said and headed to the stale room to change.
“I’m hanging with Lain that day somewhere else, I think she and her family are doing something that day that I had already agreed to so I can’t go.”
“But can’t you two just buy the costumes? I mean it’s not going to kill you.” Lauren asked. I came out of the dressing room and had the costume bag in my hand.
“Fine, I’ll buy mines but I can’t guarantee I’ll wear it or go to the fair, alright? I can’t make any promises.”
They both squealed and ran up to me, each jumping up and down. They turned to face Andrew who was still in his costume.
He exhaled and said fine and they ran up to him and told him that he won’t regret it.

As we began to pay for our costumes I had to ask Andrew what he was doing with Lain.
“Were just going up to this reservation that her parents had made, they had asked me if I wanted to go and I said sure. She had asked me to bring someone along if I wanted but I knew that if I asked you; your parents wouldn’t want you to go. So I said just the two of us.”
Pretty reasonable issue; still, I knew that Lain wouldn’t want me to be tagging along since I knew off hand that she has had a long crush on Andrew. I remember that she had asked me not too long ago if I liked Andrew and I laughed. Andrew and I were just close friends, we both felt like we knew each other from a long time, so if she liked him, then there was no problem with that.
“So is your excuse reasonable or not?” He asked after a long pause.
“Yeah it is. Remember that I had told you that I was still grounded for going over to your house so now I can’t go nowhere, today was an exception since I know that those two are going to ask you for a lift to my house then they’ll stay there and they’ll tell my mom that we went costume shopping which you won’t be named; and then my mom will asked me just what kind of a cute dress did I buy and they’ll be like OMG.”
He snickered, and looked at me as I paid.
I couldn’t help but feel his gaze on me, I felt the urge to call the name that was on the tip of my tongue yet, the many other times that I had the same urge, I held it in and just let him stared at me.
“Hey, do you have cash with you?” I asked him as I knew he didn’t have any.
He checked in his wallet and let out a soft curse. I grabbed the costume from his hand and placed it with mine, along with the rest of the props that Lauren and Steph wanted us to buy.
“I’ll pay, you don’t need to say anything, just be happy, k?”
I smiled warmly at him and resumed in paying.
Both Andrew and I went and left the bag in the car and waited for Steph and Lauren in the car. As we sat there in silence I couldn’t help but ask what he and Lain were going to be doing up at the reservation so I asked him.
“What are you and Lain going to be doing up at the reservation? I mean I’m not asking you to tell me every detail but what do you guys normally do up their?”
He looked out the window before responding.
“We normally stay at a cabin, Lain and I share a room and her parents share a room for themselves, they know that I could never do anything to their daughter so we are allowed to share that one room, in the mornings, me and her dad go off in to the lake and we both go fishing while she and her mom go hiking, later in the afternoon, Lain and I go to the lake and just sit there. It’s pretty fun when her dad brings fireworks and we go out at night and light them all up, we’re careful but, we all have fun.”
I was glad that he was going to have fun with her, maybe this will be her chance to tell him how she feels or maybe she has already told him and this might be what she has been waiting for, a response. I didn’t ask any further questions so I decided to just leave things as they are and just sit their quietly.
“Do you think your parents will let you go to the event the seniors are doing?” he asked after a while of me just sitting there.
“Don’t know, if Steph nags my mom then most likely I’ll be able to go don’t want to but she will want me to go look for someone out there.”
By the time we both finished talking, Lauren came out empty handed and Steph had only a small bag. Guess they didn’t find what they were looking.
They got in to the truck and noticed that Andrew and I weren’t speaking to one another. As I would have figured, Steph tried to make up some sort of conversation for me and Andrew to talk about, Lauren jumped in and attempted to make us both talk but instead they gave up.
We got to my place around 4 thirtish, both Lauren and Steph came out quietly and told Andrew bye and began walking to my house, I took out my costume and stuff and left his in the bag as I placed my things in my backpack. When I closed the door he drove off and I just stood there like a complete idiot. I had dropped my grudge and apologized but instead he held on to it, making me so mad. I thought we had forgotten on what had happened and left it as it was.
I walked up the pathway to the front door and saw that Steph and Lauren seemed a bit uncomfortable.
I took out the keys from my backpack and opened the door.
We both went up to my room and dropped our things of; as they stood there quietly I couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Andrew is just mad at me, not at you guys ok, so don’t mind him.”
They still didn’t buy it so I sat down at my desk and asked them what they knew about Andrew.
“We only know as much as you know about him.” Lauren said as she turned to see Steph.
Steph was just looking down at the floor and not even agreeing with Lauren as she always did.
“Steph? What’s wrong? Steph? Stephanie?” I asked.
“I know a little bit more about him.” She said as she kept starring at the floor.
Lauren and I looked at each other and then looked at her to see if she could tell us just exactly what she knew.
“Steph? Tell Sam what you know, maybe we might figure something out of him.” Lauren said and Steph’s face became serious for the first time.
“Dex knows Andrew; he says that when he use to attend a private high school, he had a class with him in his freshman year. He and Andrew didn’t talk to one another or sat next to each other, just had classes with one another, at one point he would notice that Andrew would miss school and then show up the next days, funny how he only missed one day of each month. At one point he noticed Andrew hadn’t missed a day in the month of April and then that’s when he said he wished he was never in his AP Chemistry class.” Steph stopped talking for a moment as Lauren and I exchanged glances wondering what Steph’s love could have possibly told her.
Steph ran up to me and grabbed my arms tightly for the first time, her eyes showed fear.
“Steph, I don’t think Andrew is capable of being anything that Dexter is telling you and even if he did have that moment, it might have gone-”
“Gone away? Dex would not be kidding with me if he had told me that he lost it and became an actual animal hurting many students; do you know how many went to the hospital because of him? Tell me? Do you know!?”
I shook my head slowly as it seemed she would start to cry.
“Out of a class of32 students 16 of them had to go to the hospital and 2 were permanently handicap. Sam he is a monster that can hurt you, he could have gotten stronger by now and could kill you by any small detail. Like today, he could have killed the three of us, Sam I’m begging you, please stay away from him, for your own safety, STAY AWAY FROM HIM!”
I pushed Steph away from me already tired of her believing in a lie her boyfriend had made up. I fixed my shirt and looked at her dead in the eyes.
“Steph, are you serious, did Dex make up such a cruel lie so that I can just dump my friends and forget about him? I’m not doing that, I’m already in constant danger with my brother that my mom won’t even notice that his friends harass me every day, even you won’t notice him harassing me, none of you know. Andrew has been the only one who knows what Michael has done to me-what his friends have done to me, and many times he has allowed me in his home where I feel safe and secure.”
Steph and Lauren where starring at me like I had just committed a crime and I wasn’t even feeling guilty about it, but I knew that this was the only way to get Steph to see that Dex was wrong, Andrew would never hurt no one, I knew him but yet, somewhere in the back of my head I felt a prickling sensation that was making me feel like Steph could be right. As much as I hated to admit that she could be right, I didn’t know much of him, only that he was in advanced classes since he was in that private school he rarely spoke to me about.
I looked at Steph and sighed, I couldn’t be mad at her, it wasn’t her fault, even I began to wonder why he had gotten mad so fast and why sometimes Luis, Rick, Steve and Lain spoke of that time of the month, I never understood and when I asked them what they were talking about they would change the subject.
“Steph, I’m sorry but please, Andrew is not like that, if it makes you feel any better, I’ll ask him myself personally of his past.” I said looking at her.
Her eyes went wide and I knew that that wasn’t the answer that she was looking for.
Lauren quickly stepped in and took over the conversation.
“Sammy, why don’t I go with you so that that can make you feel better, I can even bring Josh with me if that can make you feel better.” She directed the last part to Steph who still had the shocked look on her face.
Steph couldn’t quite grasp the thought of both Lauren and I going to talk to Andrew directly but with the look that she had, I guess she had no other choice but to trust us in this one.
“Alright, but please be very careful.” She said as the words came out slowly from her lips.
I couldn’t say that she was quite satisfied but, she felt alright, she hardly talked the entire time that Lauren was discussing what she had in mind for me on Halloween and she was quite when the three of us cooked our self something to snack on. By the end of our day, Steph only said bye and that was it.

I woke up without needing my alarm to assist me in waking up, I got out of bed and took out a plaid black skirt with a chain that had crowns hanging from it, a black and white shirt that had cut up sleeves and a the character Emily the Strange on it, a pair of black leg warmers and my white boots that my dad had bought me from his trip to France. I quickly changed and headed to the bathroom where I took my toiletries with me and finished getting ready. I got down stairs with my backpack on and quickly ran to the kitchen to grab a granola bar (my daily breakfast) and the keys to the house for when I return home.
I set out a bit to early so I decided to walk slowly to school with no hurries, I checked my phone to see if Andrew had texted me or left me a voice mail saying that he was sorry for just driving off like that yesterday but I knew it was too much to ask from him. Still I checked my phone with some hope and noticed none. Once I got to school I saw Lain and Luis talking in the front of the school about who knew what, I was about to say hi when Lain looked at me.
“Hey Sam, aren’t you cold?” She asked as she eyed me up and down.
“Not really, does it look like I could be cold?”
“I don’t know, I would be though.” She said laughing at the thought of her wearing something like what I was wearing.
“Why are you dressed that way?” Luis asked as he stared at my legs.
“I don’t know, never worn this skirt or shirt and the boots; I’ve only worn them two times and that was it.”
He was entranced at my legs so I had to tell him to stop looking at me like that cause it was making me feel weird around him.
I looked around and saw only a few students and then I heard from behind me Rick and Steve yelling our names but no sound of Andrew. Again the same question Lain asked me was the same question I was asked from both Rick and Steve as they stopped half way and stared at my legs as well.
“What is it with you guys and starring at my legs? They are just legs, why don’t you guys stare at one another’s legs and see what they are so special?”
I said and began to walk to bio with Ms. Rogers.
It was going to be a long day and I felt like asking either Luis or Steve if Andrew was going to be coming but knowing that Luis had a crush on Lain, he would tell her that I was asking about him like I liked him or something. Steve would be a better option than anyone else but, I was still worried that he would think of it in a wrong way, I mean he knew that I saw Andrew as my best friend and I didn’t want to get in the way of Lain and her crush so I was confused.
After I was done with Photography class, I headed to lunch where I searched and searched for Andrew constantly. I could tell that neither Streph nor Lauren were at their usual table so I decided to go to the library and study for a bit for an English exam that counted for half my grade. I checked my phone yet again to see if Andrew had texted me.
Man! I really feel like him and I have something going on when it’s not.
I sighed and closed my phone and continue to walk towards the library when my phone vibrated, eager (desperate I would also add) I checked who was texting me.
Luis.
That was new.
I ½ smething 2 tell u, where r u?
I texted back.
I’m going 2 d library 2 study; wat do u want 2 tell me?
I continue to walked to the library when he replied right away.
Bout Andrew.
My heart stopped hammering in my chest and for a second I wished Steph and Lauren hadn’t mentioned what I already suspected. I texted back saying that I would be sitting by a table near a window, close to the Harlem Era section since half of my exam was on it.
I sat by the table where I exactly told Luis that I was going to be sitting at and waited for what I hoped was not true. I decided to keep myself busy by taking out my notes from class and study off what was obvious and what I needed to study. Just when I was about to get up I saw Luis walk up to the table, I sat back down and he sat right across from me, I asked him why wasn’t he with Rick, Lain and Steve and he said that he knew since this morning what I was really looking for.
“Trust me I’m not drooling over Andrew I’m just wondering if he is mad at me.” I said with a wiry smile.
“Was he mad yesterday?” He asked his face expressing showing concern.
“I don’t know, he was fine during school and then he started getting an attitude and before I knew it he drop me and my friends off at my place and before I could even close the door, he drove off.”
Luis was quiet but the expression on his face made me wonder what was already obvious. Andrew did have a problem and I had only to wonder if it would go away or pray that it had tone down.
“Since I met Andrew I knew that Lain was hiding something from me that was about him. She never said what it was but, you could tell she worry for him half the time. By this time I was eight-years-old and she was a few months younger than me so she had this bad habit of biting her nails when she worried. I first hand witness her all cover in bruises up until I finally found out the hard way.”
My heart fell all the way down to my stomach that I just had the urge to look away from the image that my mind was creating. As I flinched in my seat I could tell that Luis was going to skip the bad part out, it was a good thing that he did cause I would see Andrew a whole different way.
“You can imagine the outcome but, it was for the best. I was hospitalized and Andrew was freaking out that he had hurt someone again; I mean he was mad at himself for hurting Lain but hurting someone he had recently met? That gave new meaning to what he considered himself. I remembered he said that he was a monster, that he didn’t want anyone to come close to him, not even his parents. At that point I wasn’t afraid of him but saw that he had no idea how to fix everything he was doing.”
He chuckled and for a second I thought he was mad at him and was just pretending to be friends with him but no, it was the complete opposite.
“You know that no one can hit Andrew but that day, I punched him in the hospital as I was in two casks and one stitched arm. It hurt me more than it might have hurt him but he stared at the bed then blinked. He laughed it in the end and we never spoke of it, we just kinda let it disappear. Steve and Rick later found out a much better way than me and Lain did but we kept it a secret from them. Then you came,” he said as he comb his hair with his fingers, “Andrew didn’t want you to know but he will probably tell you when he thinks you are ready.”
He leaned back in the chair as he seemed to feel a bit more comfortable but for some weird reason I felt like he was going to threaten me of something. He looked at me and then at my notes scattered around me.
I needed to break the ice.
“So is it alright for me to ask, why does Lain like Andrew so much? I mean wouldn’t she be scared after what she experienced?” My voice was a little higher than a whisper.
He looked at me and for the first time I was scared to be sitting right across from him. I could feel his gaze penetrate my very soul.
“Sam, stay away from Andrew and Lain.” He said and got up and began to walk away.
I couldn’t help but tell the one thing that could cause me my friendship with Luis.
“If you love her so much why don’t you just tell her instead of watching your best friend take the girl you like?”
He stopped half-way and turned half way to see me.
“If you love him so much why don’t you tell him instead of having Lain take him away from you. I’m happy seeing her smile and unlike you, she can control him better than anyone.”
“Who said I love Andrew? I don’t even see him that way; I thought I was clear from the beginning of this conversation, why does everyone assume I love him?”
“Sam? Who do you think you are fooling? Little kids? Your parents? Your friends? I don’t think so. I know what you are trying at here and I know what you are after so stay away from her love, if she doesn’t smile because of you, I swear I will ruin your pretty little face.”
“What the hell is your problem?! I can’t fall in love with Andrew because Andrew is my-!” I stopped half way before saying the words that lingered on my tongue.
I could tell I had gotten his attention because shocked crossed his face, I could tell he was thinking we were related or something but Andrew must have told them we were just friends and nothing more than that but right now, Luis was thinking he was a cousin of mines and I was falling for him head over heels. I got up right when the bell rang and grabbed all my things and stormed right passed him, I didn’t even care if he followed, I felt pissed at the moment.
As soon as I went in to my final class I could tell that Luis had just stood by the door and watched as I put my things by my desk and sat down. It took him a few moments for me to realize that he was starring when someone walked up to him and asked him who he was looking for.
He left and I felt more comfortable knowing that I was able to relax and leave in peace once I finished my final class. At least I hoped I could leave without finding him.
I was taking a tone of notes for Chemistry to keep my mind off of Andrew and Lain and the possibility of Luis telling Lain what he suspected. For once in my life, I was scared that Andrew would hate me if anything bad happened to Lain, I knew that they were friends and I had a pretty good idea that he knew Lain liked him but did it phase him?
Pushing the thoughts out of my mind I began to think on the words that lingered on my mouth the moment I almost spoke them to Luis. No one needed to know about that time in my past, not even Andrew could find out. As my mind began to dwell in memories of my cat, my mind transferred me from my class to a memory I dearly enjoyed.
It was late in the evening in my memory and I was laying on our lawn watching the sky turn different hues of color in the sky, I had only momentarily closed my eyes and when they re-opened, my cat was inches away from my face. I stared at him for a moment and asked him how was his love affair’s going. He continued to stare at me until he gently kissed my lips, I let out an ‘eww, gross’ and laughed until he got off my chest. My mind was enjoying itself as it relived the past one last time, it was at that moment that I sat right back up and turned to see my cat laying on his back but, it was at that moment that I saw it wasn’t my cat anymore, it was Andrew. My smile that was painted on my face disappear at that moment, I was no longer in my memory.
“What are you doing here?” I asked him, as if he would actually answer.
“What do you think I’m doing here?” he said, his eyes closed as if he was contemplating the day.
He turned over on his side and leaned on his arm to look at me. He wasn’t supposed to be here, it should have been my cat not him.
“Where is he?” I asked looking from tree to bush.
“Right here.” He said, pointing at himself.
“Not you, my cat. What did you do with him? This is my memory, my memory with him, you didn’t even exist yet in my life.”
I got up and began to walk about the yard. I searched in all the bushes and when I finally got to the tree I saw Andrew sitting on a branch while he ate an apple.
“How did you get up there?”
“Easy, climbed.”
He threw his half bitten apple at me and it hit my shoulder with a twank, I silently made an ouch and rubbed my shoulder.
“What the hell was that for?” I said, pissed at this moment that he had interfered my memory and he was being rude.
“You’re the one who doesn’t understand, I guess you won’t.”
I grunted and walked towards the house, I knew I was going to come out of it eventually.
“You don’t get it do you? Why do you think I’m here for? Has it crossed your mind yet or are you trying so hard to not admit it to yourself. You know what I’m talking about so say it; say it here and not out there.”
I turned slightly to see him but he had disappeared from where he was sitting. As I grew closer to the glass door it became evident that it had gotten eerie in my memory, I turned around to search for him but there was absolutely no sign of him. I clutched the handle when out of nowhere two long arms planted themselves in the glass door, his reflection reflecting only his face. I gulped thinking that I was going to go into a sudden coma and die in my memory. I turned slightly to see his face that I noticed that his eyes weren’t his.
“Do you remember me now?” he said, his golden eyes looking straight at mines.
I turned around knowing that it would be an easy rape situation but I let that thought slip out my mind and created another situation where he could possibly kill me, just as Luis has said. If this was not Andrew and was not my cat then, what exactly was it? I wasn’t sure if I should say the name he was demanding me to say or if I should let him drop kick me on the floor and massacre me on the spot as I could not out run him.
“What do you want from me?” I said, keeping my voice even.
“I want you, I want you to say my name out loud so that I can torture you in your mind, you think I have forgotten about that morning, do you?” he said his voice sounding so velvety yet cruel.
My eyes shot out of my sockets as I knew what he was talking about and at this right second, I knew that I couldn’t be fooling around with him, this was no Andrew or my cat, this was a combination of the Andrew I had just learned and of the hatred I assumed my cat has towards me. I couldn’t say his name; I could never say that name, no matter how much he looked liked him I couldn’t.
“Andrew.” My voice was a mere monotone from what it originally sounded like in my head.
“Wrong answer Samantha, say it,” he said leaning closer to my face until both our foreheads were touching one another’s, his breath filled my lungs and I knew he was using this method to lure me into saying the name he wanted me to say, “say the name you and I are dying to hear.”
I couldn’t help it, resisting was not helping me at this moment and I couldn’t open the door, my legs went into a state of shock, I had to give in. I whispered the name softly that not even I could tell what I was saying.
“Louder Sammy, I can’t hear you.” He whispered into my ear and gave goosebumps to me.
I whispered it a bit louder, the words understandable but still not hearable.
“Louder Sammy, just a little bit more.”
He wrapped his arms around my waist as my whole body became numb. I couldn’t cry, I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t even fight back what I knew was coming. I had one choice that could help me or make it worse but I needed to put it to the test if I wanted to come out of this memory. As he stroke my back and hugged me as tight as possible I shut my eyes up and imagined myself in my Chemistry class, writing madly notes for exams in the near on future. I assumed I was in class but it was all quiet, no sound resonated through the room even when the teacher spoke and few students held conversations with one another.
“Don’t do that Sammy; I’ll come after you if you don’t open your eyes.”
I turned slowly back to see who was sitting behind me and saw Andrew leaning casually in his seat. I gasped and came back to him holding me; that was it, I needed to get out of the memory some way or another. I squirmed in his arms as he held me in this bear hug that was draining the air out of me.
“Fighting is useless knowing that I can do whatever I want with you. You came here looking to find what you wanted and now, you found it. Say my real name.”
“I won’t.” I said, gasping to get air.
“Sammy you’re making me madder then I already am.” His voice growing louder and louder as I kept on fighting him off.
Fed up, he tossed me on the floor and my spine cracked, I gasped for air as I turned over in pain. I could hear him walk up to me and I began to crawl away.
“I told you Samantha, now you’re hurt. So say it!” he yelled as I crawled away.
As soon as I reached the tree I turned myself around and saw him standing just a few feet away from me, anger written all over his face. I could have sworn that I saw everything that I knew about myself begin to change; I felt fear towards Andrew and my cat now and I didn’t know if I could possibly see Andrew the same way if I lived through this. As I saw him walk up to me with the intention to continue to hurt me I yelled out what he had long wanted me to say.
“ENVY!”
I shut my eyes as I yelled the name. Had he stopped? Was he gone? Better question, was I in Chemistry? My eyes opened and saw nothing, my heart hammered in my chest as I wondered where he could be hiding. Two long arms embraced me from the back and my heart raced two times faster than before.
“You finally said it, but it’s too late.”
He stood up with me in his arms still and tossed me like a rag doll against the tree, before I could even hit the floor he swooped me back up dropped me simultaneously on the floor. I couldn’t move away from him when he had the upper hand. Over and over I kept telling him to stop but he just laughed, he had picked me up from the back of my head at one point as I slowly came in and out of what was going on.
“Aww, you’re bleeding, I’ll clean it up for you.”
He licked the area where it was bleeding and I could feel his scorching tongue make contact with my skin. I yelled from the pain and he kept on licking it, I pushed him away but it was no use, I was in pain.
“You said in the beginning gross when I kissed you didn’t you?”
I let out a whimpered that arouse from the back of my throat and made its way to my mouth. He chuckled and slowly his lips came into contact with mines. Pain was all I felt when his lips kissed my own; it was like someone was whipping my whole body but I couldn’t yell. When he finally finished, I was exhausted and in more pain that holding me up was all his own power and none of my own. He gently picked me up and carried me like a groom would carry his bride and began to hum a melody I couldn’t put my finger on.
“Why are you doing this Envy?” I said blacking out every moment.
He smiled at me and it frightened me to think that my Envy was going to killed me in the body of the guy that resembled him. Before blacking out completely he whispered so tenderly into my ear my answer.
“I’m not Andrew or Envy; I’m you.”
My eyes slowly opened and I saw myself holding me.
