Book of Knight's Thoughts
They it's better to write down what's on your mind for it could be important.
Knight 1
Living the past is a dull and lonely business; looking back strains the neck muscles, causing you to bump into people not going your way. It’s during this that people do refer to you as clumsy. I semi believe that; but it’s not the clumsy the opposite of. If you can let your past go as you talk about it so that someone knows the things you went through, well it just makes you adroit. Most of the people I have told what little of my life story heard that I was abandoned as an infant. I was left out to die, before I lived.
Past experiences shape what we are. What I learned myself is the only thing I know, everything else that I learn along the way is new to me.My name is Knight. I’m 1,769 year old male vampire. Pure bred with hidden angel trait; even to this day don’t know where I got it from. Heh, I suppose I’ll just start with the story already in the first person.
“Knight, why do you always take more time in getting yourself ready then I do?” Crystal asked me, with a slight hint of impatience to her voice.
I looked into the mirror in front of me; reflecting a man with pale skin, an athletic build with a small kanji tattoo of death on the left breast, piercing green eyes, and long silver hair. His hands were in a towel that was on his head; seemingly to dry his hair. I smirked as did the man in the mirror. “Who is this handsome devil that I’m gazing at?” I asked the man. He just stood there in silence looking at me. I shrugged. “Strong, silent type eh? I like that.” I told the man.
A bang came from the other side of the door, followed by Crystal’s muffled voice. “Stop hitting on yourself. It makes you sound ignorant and gay.” She told me.
“Cannot help by looking this damn good,” I responded. I felt a grin etch upon my face. Her giggle came soon after. “I feel bad for whoever you marry in the future for putting up with you. May she be strong hearted.” She added.
I laughed. “I only accept the best.” I responded.
I slipped on my leather pants and wrapped a belt around my waist fixing it to my standards. I then wrapped two leather straps across my chest overlapping the other. I looked at myself in the mirror. A solider, a guardian, a knight was all that I had seen. The Black Death used to be the name armies would give me when I fought. Thousands would die almost instantaneously with a slight sweep of my sword. I was feared for my skill. I wasn’t normal, which had taken me awhile to realize that. I didn’t like normal food, but when blood entered my mouth it was like something clicked and kept whispering “More, I need more.”
If there was some other way of getting that little high and satisfying feeling without fighting I wish I someone would tell me. I shrugged. I suppose fighting in battles and wars keeps me in shape. I sat on the edge of the tub and slipped my boots on and belted them to secure them to my feet. I then got up and grabbed my coat tossing it over one of my shoulders and exited the bathroom. Crystal was sitting while drinking some tea and nibbling on a cookie.
“Your hair is a complete mess, what are you doing?” she asked.
“You asked what was taking too long, which in a sense is telling me to hurry up. Well I’m done and here. What did you need that you couldn’t wait until later?” I asked with a slight grin on my face.
She sighed and pulled up a stool. “Do you at least have a brush?” she asked.
Crystal was like the only thing to a sister I had. I was older, yet she was more mature. She watched over me. I protected her. I held out a brush then sat down in front of her, as she gently glided the bristles over my head, getting any knots that she could. As she did so, she shoved a cookie in my mouth. “Eat.” She commanded.
The cookie was sweet with a buttery finish, with slight explosions of chocolate. There was only one thing, no two things that kept me eating food. One; was the most common; it provided nutrients for me to live off of. Two; I was curious on how many dishes and desserts out there would I find perfect. Cooking and baking I had discovered from observing Crystal was both science and art.
The science of it was the combinations and trial and error of those said combinations. I found that if you mix a few items in a pan and splash red wine you can make a fire inside the pan. I didn’t know that could happen. The art however came after. It was how you presented the dish. I still can’t see how a soup can be appealing since its all mixed ingredients either in broth or a sauce.
Baking just is too hard to fully comprehend.
“Alright there, now you can hit on the handsome man in the mirror.” She told me then giggled.
“Thanks.” I said as I turned around to face her with a grin.
I then put my arm in one of the sleeves of my jacket and began to put it on.
“Where are you off to?” Crystal asked looking up at me.
I glanced back at her. “I got to get a new cleaning kit, and then I’m off to get some food.” I had told her.
She laughed.
“You buying food for us is a horrible idea, and I would be an idiot to let you proceed to, since you don’t even know how to cook, how will you know what to get. I’m coming with you.” She told me still chuckling.
“Alright, I was just trying to help out.” I responded, crossing my arms comfortably across my chest.
Crystal finished her tea then got up and belted the third notch in my jacket, just below my belt.
“One; I am too. Two: if you don’t start at least belting one of these below your belt line it will get in the way in battle. Keep that in mind if you wish to remain alive.” She told me.
She hugged me and grabbed my chin gently before she went in to get ready.
It was an hour later that she returned refreshed and smelling like flowers. She had let her slick black hair down, she wore a black and white leather teddy, with tight leather pants and a leather jacket that almost matched mine, except it was a lot shorter. She looked at me with her dark green eyes.
“Ready?” she asked me before lacing her boots.
I chuckled. “I think you had taken longer time than I.”
She shrugged. “A girl needs to look her best.”
I gently moved my hand to the back of my head and began rubbing. I smiled, “To bad I’m better looking.” I replied.
She walked to the door opened it and exited. I was confused. Did something happen that I wasn’t aware of? I walked to the door crossing the threshold and closing the door behind me. She was waiting at the end of the walkway.
“Did I?” I asked, not aware of what I was to be asking.
“It looks like someone caught your face on fire and tried to put it out with a fork.” She answered.
My mouth dropped.
She began to laugh after a moment with a serious look on her face. “Are you about to cry?” she asked me still laughing.
I looked away from her. “No I’m not about to cry, you just caught me off guard.” I responded.
I felt her arms around me. “Aww, I hurt the great Knight’s pride in himself. I’m sorry.”
I bit my lip. Then spoke. “Are we going to go?”
She nodded after kissing my cheek gently. “Your handsome, women would love to crawl to your feet.” She laughed again.
“That’s going a bit far. Although it happens.” I responded.
It was some time when we finally entered town.
“Alright, we’ll meet back here after we finished, Agreed?” she asked me.
I nodded.
She began to walk in a direction opposite of me. I passed several people when I heard someone speak to me. His voice was low and raspy; a chill went up my spine.
“Are you Knight?”
I didn’t turn around to face him. “Who wants to know?” I asked.
I heard a snicker. “Me, of course.”
I then turned around and responded, “Another smart-a** huh?”
A red haired man with black eyes looked back at me. His skin was a porcelain doll white with eerie tribal tattoos all across his thin chest. He smiled bearing razor pointed teeth.
“Precisely, I’m glad someone noticed. As for you, you’ll be coming with me.”He said.
My vision then went black and as did my vision fade so did Crystal’s screams.
