Mass Effect Story (fan based)
]As the subject entails that this is merely a fan based story. I thought it would be intresting to do a story based around the third game, but instead of Commander Shepard being the main character we have multiple. Men and women based else-where in the galaxy fighting the Reaper horde while facing the Geth and Cerberus. If you have played the game and wish to be a part of this story either ask Devonic or myself and we will consider. Rule is though, no male will ever be an Asari

1850 hrs
Dreadnaught: Remnant
Orbiting planet: Eden Prime, Utopia
Earth system Alliance Space, Milky Way

Heavy breathes escaped from the crew’s mouth as they were forced to pull off 100 push-ups for reckless behavior during their last mission. Most of them had thought it was far worth it after all it’s not every day they are sent to Thessia. Some of the lads thought they even found their first mate. Their sweat dripped on the Remnant’s floors the falling onto the alliance symbol distastefully tattooed onto the surface. Those who did the pushups incorrectly was forced to stare at it and be reminded just how much it was starting to annoy them almost wishing they would keep their head up as they lowered their bodies close to the ground. “I love to see little girls sweat in the morning, don’t you private Sigma?!” Captain Riley shouted as she crossed her arms watching the men push themselves back up.
Sigma’s almost metallic tone broke through the grunts of his allies beside him. “Yes, Captain Riley!” He kept trying to push himself up frowning when he could feel the undeniable weight of his new armor he had splurged on. Captain Riley’s eyes shifted as she paced along the planking bodies of men she stopped when she had gotten to the lone Drell that had been silent most of the time. The Drell was ahead of the others but he didn’t dare get up until the others were finished he had learned that lesson first hand when she made him get back down and do an extra fifty for being such a good sport.
“Then tell me private Roash; Where is Private Henderson!?” She bent down to yell in Nathan’s face who paused in a straight plank not daring to look down now. He had a good idea of where the man was but it was only a guess. “I don’t know Sir!” His voice spoke out knowing her next words, it was common to hear when someone said ‘I don’t know’. “Private Cosma, please inform Private Roash, why we don’t deal with ‘I don’t knows’ in the field!” She shouted standing back up straight as her green eyes narrowed, her red short hair falling on her shoulders as her alliance grey, white, and black suit clung to her. It was common Military Uniform and everyone on the Commander’s ship was ordered to wear it or he would make Captain Riley remind them herself… and she despised taking orders.
“Sir, because I don’t knows lead to MIA’s on the field, Sir!” The turian shouted out trying to keep his breathing steady. His armor as still on also but simply because everyone knew Turians never remove their armor, they had it equipped at all times except when in the bed with another or trading it out for more advanced armor. Sadly that armor was also difficult to maneuver in, therefore Turians never quite learn how to duck, side step or even dive. The birds were complicated and not so lucky when it came to firefights with little cover, however due to their excellent eyes they were expert marksmen.
“That is Correct Private Cosma, and we do not turn back for MIA’s but in this case, since your neighbor is missing, private Roash, you are now instructed to go find Jacob Henderson who is.. MISSING IN ACTION!” She shouted making Nathan rise to his feet in intimidation he was not one to cause violence but he knew how to end it quite quickly. Drell were known for their excellent agility and stealth. Drells had perfect recall memory from smells, to feeling, to sound. Though they were not powerful hitters they still fought with the best, their feet doing most of the work, which is why they had been mostly known as assassins, and also making security nervous. “S-sir!” He stammered before rushing off down the hall to leave the allies on the ground.
In a dark room lied a body covered in sheets and breathing softly, at times mumbling to himself, no doubt dreaming and keeping out of the way of the reprecussions of the actions down on Thessia, even though the same person was the one who caused it. Nathan’s light footsteps approached the door, pressing his hand to the holographic red circle that usually meant the door was locked. He could have used Sigma in this case to hack it but being he was busy with the pushups, Nathan knew he was on his own. Nathan raised his right arm as an orange holographic armor seemed to cover his forearm, this as called an Omni-tool.
Omni-tools are handheld devices that combine a computer microframe, sensor analysis pack, and minifacturing fabircato. Versatile and reliable, an omni-tool can be used to analyze and adjust the functionality of most standard equipment, including weapons and armor, from a distance. The fabrication module can rapidly assemble small three-dimensional objects from common reusable industrial plastics, ceramics, and light alloys. This allows for field repairs and modifications to most standard items, as well as the reuse of salvaged equipment. Omni-tools are standard issue for soldiers and first-in colonist.
Being a soldier the entire dreadnaught had one. Nathan lifted his arm up beginning to read the lock before overriding it quietly; it didn’t take long for the red hologram to turn green and the door to open to his whim. It was elementary to break through, allowing Nathan to step inside and tilt his head when he heard Henderson begin to mumble to himself as he slept in his bed. Soon the Drell leaned over the bed breathing heavily with the same symbolic pitch black eyes that all drells possess. He at first spoke softly his eyes narrow. Nathan knew exactly what to expect for it wasn’t the first time he had to wake the man. His hands moved deftly underneath Henderson’s pillow to remove the alliance’s standard issue M-5 Phalanx pistol from underneath. Now it was safe to begin. “Jacob.” There was no reaction. “Jacob..” He repeated this time he got a stir which made Nathan expect him to rise but still the slumber was too deep. Nathan leaned in closer in aggravation. “Jacob!” The man’s eyes snapped open to see the drell leering above him, “What the ********?!” Henderson shouted in shock, it made Jacob immediately reach under his head and try to snatch for his missing pistol ready to shoot, feeling nothing but cotton underneath he almost panicked until Nathan spoke out.
“Calm friend. It is only me. Captain riley wants you in the mess hall immediately.” He said taking a step back before he tempted Jacob to swing at his face. He revealed the pistol in his left hand and swiftly took out the thermal clip before setting the pistol itself back down on the desk that sat next to his bunk. With that the drell backed out the cabin, leaving the human alone, glaring at the closing door. His teeth clenched as his blonde hair shifted to the side. He was obviously exhausted from the incident last night, but he couldn’t shrug off an order, no doubt Nathan would report he had found, and handed out the order, leaving Jacob to shoulder all the blame. “Damn b***h.” He mumbled to himself as he began to rise up and look at his locker in disgust. Managing to find his alliance uniform he dressed himself properly and went out the door wasting no time to lock it and move toward the elevator.
When Jacob finally arrived he had seen puddles of sweat on the floor and to no surprise everyone was finished with their punishment. “Well look who decided to join us! Where the ******** have you been private?” Captain riley shouted her voice harsh as she stepped forward almost in his face, it had been no surprise that they had problems with each other, more than the others infact. It seemed that Jacob had an obvious problem with authority and wasn’t afraid to show it.

“Enjoying my rest before some bi-“ He was cut off by her fist connecting to his jaw making him step back from the impact. That was the first time she ever swung at anyone, therefore making everyone sort of gasp from the shock that she finally caved in to the desire. “Stow the ******** ‘tude a*****e. We have a actual problem, and you better fall in line or you’ll be stuck cleaning toilets for the rest of your service!” Jacob stepped forward his fist curled as he got into the woman’s face who was a few inches shorter than him. As fast as ever Sigma gripped Jacob’s shoulder and pulled him away with a stern look on his face, his grip sturdy as he looked into Jacob’s eyes through his own helmet and shook his head to signal that it was not the right thing to do. Jacob was not known for keeping his cool when disrespected.

“Commander on deck!” was heard from a distance as footsteps waltzed right behind the group with his hands behind his back, his heavy southern accent and white hair made him recognizable from 1000 yards away his mustache and subtle goatee kept him distinguishable. His behavior itself kept the respect. “That’ll be quite enough Captain, step back. That’s an order.” He spoke out as it almost instantly grew quiet. “I see you have trouble getting over this loss but you need to fight your feelings. Gentlemen, I have received word that.. Earth has been attacked, and it was by no other than the Reapers.” The room was no longer quiet as the entire crew of the Remnant had seemed to come down by order of the commander himself and was talking of disbelief about how the hell this could have as fast as it did. Finally someone asked what most of the crew was wondering. “How soon are we gonna’ be deployed to get those sons of bitches?!”

The Commander gave a pause his teeth gritting hiding the fact that he didn’t like the order he had received from admiral Hackett, but he’d be damned if he sent this whole Dreadnaught to its doom. “We’re not.”

“What?!”

“What the hell Commander?!”

“Are you out of your mind!?”

“My Husband is back on Earth!”

“What about our family?!”

The commander closed his eyes to try and calm his nerves before he quieted them “The Reapers came in force. Larger than we’ve ever seen, they took out Lunar base as if nothing and cut through our defenses just as easily and without warning. We are not going to earth… Not yet. It was decided that we cannot defeat the Reapers alone, therefore they appointed Commander Shepard to try and gather up forces.. truce for all races in order to strike back against the Reapers and take them out for good. But we’re not going in there with absolutely no other plan.. He and his team have also found plans for a weapon that is called The Crucible. That seems to have been constructed by the protheans from what they can tell. They’ll need all the help they can building the weapon which is where we come in. We are to gather resources around the Milky Way and send them to Admiral Hackett and his team who will be working on the weapon while Shepard gathers our forces.” The commander’s look began to grow more angry with determination, knowing that if the crew on the Remnant sensed his despair then it would be just as contagious.

“Everyone on this ship is a soldier, every single soul Is a force to be reckoned with… And I’ll be damned if we’re going to go out with a damn wimper.. LET’S SHOW THESE REAPER ******** WHO OUR GALAXY IS NOT TO BE ******** WITH!” He shouted with authority his frown showing as was his held in anger. The who entire crew excluding Nathan, who was usual quite due to his Synthesized voice, shouted in a cry of anger . With that settled the commander looked behind him. “Rodlous, raise the distress signal for people to pick up on for them to evacuate their planets and get them on the path for the citadel in case. Frost, get back to piloting this damn ship and set a course for the mass relay, we’re getting out of here. Send messages to everyone you can to warn them of the danger.” It was then he looked back at Captain Riley and narrowed his eyes. “Get your squad ready for their next mission, we have work to do. You know the details, get them ready at the armory once you’ve sent what you needed.” He ordered as she nodded and watched him walk away.

Nathan and Cosma looked around at the other faces that were mixed with sadness and anger in slight confusion trying to avoid the tension in the room. They watched as the others who had to get ready were completely silent no doubt trying to find out just how this happened and if their loved ones were still alive. Nathan slowly began to back away to the Dreadnaught’s elevator with his head down as Cosma laid a hand on both Jacob and Sigma’s shoulders to try and pull them together. All of them knew it was going to be a long mission.
