So we have this AR-7 rifle. If you haven't heard of it it's a "take down" rifle. The rifle can be disassembled and stored in a compact position. You know those action movies where the bad guy has a sniper rifle in pieces in a suitcase? It's kinda like that. Before you start freaking out about deadly sniper rifles and crap this is a .22 rifle. If you know absolutely nothing about guns it fires a bullet so small its not very good on anything bigger than a raccoon. With the AR-7 everything is supposed to break down and fit inside the stock. The stock could then be put inside a backpack and taken on a hiking trip or whatever.
The biggest controversy about this gun isn't even how compact it is. The big concern tends to be reliability. For some people the gun works perfectly fine. For others the gun tends to jam frequently. One of the problems is that the rifle has been made by so many companies. It was first made by Armalite for about a decade. Charter Arms made it for almost 20 years. Henry arms has been making it almost as long as Charter made them. A few other companies made them here and there but I think Armalite, Charter Arms, and Henry are the big three. The one I have is Charter Arms and works well.
Anyway I'm digressing. This is all pretty much history. Where's the news? Well a little more history first. About 5 years ago I took it out shooting with my grandpa. After shooting we disassembled the action for cleaning. We thought we lost a pin in the process. We put the action and one mag in a ziplock bag and kept it separate from the barrel, stock, and the other mag. Almost 3 years ago we moved into this apartment. During the moving process we misplaced the stock with the barrel and extra mag. Now then back in November we took the action to a gunsmith to get that missing pin replaced. As it turned out all the pins were there. We were missing a spring for the mag release but got that replaced.
So in December we looked online for some new parts. My grandpa ordered a red dot sight for the rifle. That came in so he ordered a scope, scope rings, a collapsing stock, one or two 20 round mags, and a heavy barrel. The order was back ordered since January. At the first of the month I sent them an email with our order number asking for status update. This morning we got a notification that our order is being shipped tomorrow. The new parts should be here sometime next week.
As grandpa mentioned the stock might not have come with the screw to attach to the action. If it didn't come we will probably have to order another screw assembly.
