So a friend sent me a picture recently that compared a high end PC with a Mac with the same stats. The PC cost $1400 while the Mac cost $7300. I'm not sure how old this picture is and if those prices are still valid but this is my big complaint with Apple. A lot of their products are massively expensive. I keep hearing that Macs are so much better than PCs because a Mac never gets a virus. Being on PC my whole life I've never had a problem with viruses. Besides, it's not the hardware that protects you from a virus it's the software. In the aforementioned picture the $1400 PC could be "upgraded" to a Mac while the $7300 Mac could be used as a PC apparently. I'm pretty sure that upgrade is just software related and doesn't cost $5900.
Then there's the iPad. If I recall the battery can't be changed. It doesn't have USB support. It doesn't really have any plugs if I recall. There's no camera to it. No flash support if I recall. Basically there is a LOT of crap it doesn't have. It's their product, their choice I guess but to charge $500 for something like that is just a bad idea. Even worse are the people who actually shell out the cash for that. You might as well just get a laptop instead. iPad 2 is coming out eventually. Unless they're total ******** most of this s**t will be fixed.
Microsoft has its problems too when it comes to prices, but it's not so crazy as Macs. Then again microsoft doesn't make hardware as far as I know. Still charging up to $500 for MS office is ridiculous. That's why I like the open source community.
