So after a lot of procrastination I finally got a new phone. Well sorta new. I got my original phone 3 years ago. It was a good working phone for a long time, but then last January the phone died on me. A replacement phone was at least $100 or alternately I could get a prepaid phone and put my SIM card in it for just $40. I went with the prepaid.
The big thing I missed was being able to assign custom ringtones for individual contacts, but other than that it worked just fine. I could still make custom ringtones but I could only use them for calls in general, texts in general and so on. Over the last 4 months though things got pretty bad on the phone. One of the hinges busted so I keep worrying that the two halves will fall apart. Even worse my phone had the computer equivalent of a stroke. System files got corrupted as did most of my custom ringtones. To make things worse saved texts were deleted and calls as well as texts both outgoing and incoming would not be received from time to time.
One of the employees at my credit union saw my phone commenting that she had the exact same phone which she was trying to get rid of so she gave it to me. Unfortunately I'm on T Mobile and her phone was AT&T so it didn't accept my SIM card. Instead it said the phone was locked. I took it in to AT&T to have them unlock it. They said I have to call Nokia and have them do it. @_@
Well a second thought occurred to me. I have my sisters old phone. It's the exact same model as my first phone only hers was pink. I took a dremel to it and ground the ******** out of it so now it's silver. It looks like s**t but it's not pink! biggrin So now I can assign custom ringtones to specific people. I've already made half a dozen new tones and I'm gonna keep it at that for now.
