A random collection of my thoughts
Evan Todd
Story

One of the survivors of Columbine wrote an open letter to Obama speaking out against gun control. This isn't the first time a victim of a shooting has been used to push an agenda about guns, but it's the first time I've seen where it's been used in a pro gun light.

Richard Castaldo and Mark Taylor appeared on Bowling for Columbine where Michael Moore used them to prove a point that guns are bad so K Mart stopped selling ammo because of them.

Gabrielle Giffords was a pro gun politician from Arizona. At a public event she was shot in the head and miraculously survived. Now she is more for gun control.

I can understand why they feel the way they do. Getting shot is a horrible thing. I can especially see why Giffords would change her mind about guns after this. I don't agree with their stances, but I can understand why they feel the way that they do.

In Evan Todd's letter to Obama he explains why he thinks gun control is bad. A lot of what he says is stuff the pro gun community has been saying.

The proposed assault weapons ban for example is a tightened up version of the ban passed in '94. Columbine happened half way through the ban and that ban didn't stop the shooters from doing what they did. They broke the laws of the ban and several other laws on top of that. Evan estimated 30 laws. Off hand all I can think of are murder, attempted murder, making bombs, carrying guns to a gun free zone, illegally purchasing firearms, illegally purchasing ammunition, and shortening guns to below federal minimums. It makes a good point about how laws only affect the law abiding.

He also mentioned the 10 round limit and used V Tech as an example. Cho used 10 round magazines, but he had a lot of them and V Tech to this day is the deadliest school shooting in the US.
