Kayla's Journal
This is an account of Kayla's experiences at The Barton Academy of Gaiamancy.
Life seems to be rushing by me pretty fast. It’s already a week since my last journal entry. Dottie and I went to a show Wednesday night. We saw some band play, Manga Messiah. I’d never heard of them, but they weren’t too bad. Dottie bought their CD, so I guess she liked them. I had a good time, but Dottie and I really should have been working on our Biometrics project. We’re going to do an expiriment to show the flow of bio energy in a few small animals, a worm, a frog and a mouse. Mr. Arnet said he could provide us with the frog and the mouse, but we still have to dig up some worms to collect our preliminary data.

In tools and materials class we’ve been learning to do some simple gaiamancy without a phasing sigil. Mrs. Unni brought in blocks of ice for us to practice on. The idea is to change the ice directly into water vapor without melting it. This is called sublimination, and we have already done this in class with the sigils. Summoning the energy is the easy part. It’s focusing that power to bring it into phase with the ice molecules that’s difficult, a task usually handled by the phasing sigil. So far, I’m getting it to work. It’s just hard to hold it long enough to do the whole block.

That’s about all I have to report, except that there has been another spontaneous fire. This time it happened in the observatory, but I was not there to see it. If this is going to become a regular event, I’m going to feel really nervous about it. As if I don’t have enough to worry about.
