Week Twelve: Three is the Magic Number That's right folks, it's my 3 month Gaiaversary, and as a reward for those of you who read my journal and comment every week, I'll give a small prize to the first three commentors today blaugh Gaia Roundup So I've been here three months, and every week I've posted about life here at Gaia. I guess it's time I give one big synopsis about what I think of the place and how I feel about it going forward. The Peeps The best part about Gaia is how awesome the people are. Almost every single person here I could see as being a good friend. They're all fun, wacky, and in love with what they're doing. I feel as though most people here actually want to make the site a fun place for users -- or maybe they're just trying to make it more fun for themselves, because they're users themselves (selfish jerks!). We all have similar interests and we share a similar sense of humor, and even as we grow, Lanzer makes sure people we hire fit in. A happy Gaia team makes for happy Gaia users. ... and happy Gaia users make plump feasts for our Alien Overlords!!! ninja So every day is like coming in in the morning and hanging out with you friends. It's pretty great. The Site Most of you know that I'm a Gaiaddict now (if we could get Gaia-extract in liquid form, I'd put it in an IV and leak it directly into my veins). I get up every day, respond to comments and PMs, I check forums throughout the day, and then I do it all again before bed. I have a set of Gaian friends who I chat with every day, and I vote in the arenas whenever I'm bored, and I spend a lot of time in GCD and Site Feedback (I tried GD yesterday... but I got scared and ran way) Gaia HQ As if there weren't enough things to love about my job, there's Gaia HQ. It's only going to get better, but here are a few highlights: * We have Snacktopia * There are toys everywhere (I like to play with the remote-control helicopter on my way to lunch) * If you're walking down the hall and you get tired, you can plop down in a random bean bag or couch * Whenever we release a new feature, we blare a special "release song" loudly over the office. We've done "Flight of the Valkyries" a few times. They've been switching it up lately though rofl * We get puppy visits! * We get to relax with our in-house ping pong tables (with Ping-Pong Cam!) * The office is built entirely out of gold Okay, okay -- so one of those things isn't exactly true (that is, we have two ping pong tables, but only one of them is set up right now). All told, though, everything here is pretty sweet - and I can't imagine working anywhere else. In Requiem: Admin Three Point Oh I just wanted to mention a GREAT thread that just got moved from the GCD, the very funny Admin Three Point Oh. It's Cid High-Wind's very funny take on the lives of the people who run Gaia (including yours truly). Note that the stories are fictional, and I am NOT in fact a "never-nude" rofl If you haven't read it yet, I strongly suggest taking a look -- and keeping an eye out for whatever else she throws together. Should be good. UPDATE: The new Admin Three Point Oh thread is up! Gaia Phenomenon: Gaia Snowball No, it's not a new winter item -- it's what happens when a rumor gets started on Gaia rofl A user gets wind of something ... maybe they hear an admin say something, maybe a bunch of users talk about something cool they want, maybe they just imagine what they'd like on Gaia and someone else takes it out of context ... but the idea snowballs until everybody knows what a new feature is going to be like and how impossibly great it's going to be. A tiny idea snowballs into a great big user-run hype machine! Inevitably, this usually means that it's impossible for us to live up to their wildest dreams when we actually do release the feature, and for a week or so after any feature is released, a big chunk of hardcore users get upset and think it's lame. I think it's funny, because it happens all the time. Think about any upcoming feature and tell me: How much do you actually know rofl

	Im only 1 3/4 yrs old on gaia. I joined before kikis came out, well the same month. And beign newbish after getting one sold it for 9k. Some how seeming alot. Liek when you like 8 and $100 is alot of money. If I had just kept it crying I'd be a rich pain in the a. Instead of just a Psychotic pain in the a. 	I now want midget NPCs and a basketball tournement with them it it. XD That would so pwn. It reminds me of a midget basketball game I saw at my school. Midgets versus teachers. Midgets won. Anyways. While you've had your three month Gaiaversary, some of us cough have had our three year ones by now. Cheers for working your way up slowly but steadily. 	Gaia HQ sounds like the best place ever to work... I've gotta get talented at something then move to Cali and perhaps I can work in the awesomeness that is Gaia HQ. I keep forgetting about mine, I don't even remember how long ago it was, or what date I've joined. neutral Snacktopia looks yummy. 4laugh Toys?! That's the first, for me. 	If admins/dev's gave a lil more information we wouldn't need to hype things up so much like the quest system, ive been told two diffrent versions of what its gonna be like and while they said release before battle system, there is a battle system team, but i havn't heard of a quest system team crying so its a lil hard not to hype, when all we get is second hand information from other users that attend conventions. (is not trying to whine really! ^.^)

	Heh, I tend to keep things to myself and don't expect anything other than features/items/etc being released (not necessarily on the dates they say... face it, yall aren't all that good with delivering on time xd ). Still, there will always be people bitching about something. You know that by now. 	Nice art in your profile. I really don't know much about any of the upcoming features. sweatdrop I love surprises so I really don't seek out info. xd I must admit that I have looked for info on the tattoo parlor and there isn't much out there.
