Suddenly, I was awake. The morning sun was shining through the curtains. I lifted my head and rubbed my throbbing temples. I groaned. I’d fallen asleep on the desk in the middle of eating my dinner. ‘How did that work?’ I thought. ‘I wasn’t even tired!’
I slowly rose from my chair and stretched. I looked down to discover I was still wearing yesterday’s clothes. I quickly grabbed some fresh clothes and ran to the shower.
After thirty minutes, I emerged from the bathroom. Clean and clothed. I went to look in the mirror and could’ve sworn for a second, there was a large black figure standing behind me. I swung round and could see no one. Something weird was going on, but I couldn’t think what.
I plodded down the stairs into the kitchen and began to pour myself some orange juice. Ivan slowly entered the kitchen, scratching his head. He moaned.
“What happened? The last thing I remember is eating my dinner.” A quick glance at Ivan and I realised that he was still in the clothes he was wearing yesterday.
“Really? The exact same thing happened to me!”
“Maybe it was something in the f--- “ He stopped talking and I felt as if ice had just been poured down my shirt. “W-w-what was that?”
“I just got a bit c---“
“No, not that, this black shape just shot behind you!” I looked around.
“What? No! Ivan you’re going crazy! It probably was something in the f--- OH MY GOD! You’re right! It just happened to you!”
Ivan was lost for words. The black shape began to circle around us in the kitchen. It finally exited through the cat flap, dropping something on it’s way. I bent down to see what it was the shape had dropped. A mixture between anger and fear swelled up inside me. The shadow had dropped a locket.
