Where is the line... that seperates what,... what you should say, and what you shouldn't?
A lot of people hold things back. I know I do. Because if everyone just, spoke their mind, bad things would happen. I know from experience. I mean, I wish it were so simple as to not have any bounderies. But, really, maybe... maybe it's that people don't want to hear it. And get mad at you for telling them something they don't want to hear.
I mean... do we just know what's safe to say and what's not? Like... if a friend has bad breath, I'd tell them. Or, you know, if they're going to do something stupid (unless it's debatable), or like, you know. Stuff like that. But, maybe their shirt looks really bad. But they really like it. I wouldn't tell them it was ugly, because I just have different a different taste. Maybe I don't see it the way they do. That's a boundary right? There's the line?
But if someone says they like Scooby-Doo, or Winnie the Poo, I'll speak up. That's still such an... opinion-based topic.
Never mind. Scratch everything I just said. Maybe I'l talk about it some other time.
Let's talk about... commercials. I mean, we always complain about how we're all being brainwashed, blah blah blah. But, really... I don't mind. I don't mind having my 24 minute cartoon show interrupted occassionally with commercials. I mean, without commercials, I wouldn't know what was out there, really. What's ravioli? What's pasta? What's cereal? How do I make cereal? Oh! I put the milk in. What different types of cereal are there? What do they taste like?
I mean, say we didn't have advertisements. At all. No more bus-stops, balloons, cars, tv and radio advertisements... no more ads. On everything. Well, on the bright side, I'd definately learn more about what I'm buying. On the down side, I wouldn't know what was available out there. Unless, but of course, they'd create a system for us. Like, there'd always be that one person always out there, telling their friends what new stuff's out there.
I'd know so much more about my products because I'd have to actually look into what's there, and what .. well, what I look for when I'm searching for shoes, shampoo, or food. Or anything. I'd know what to look for. And I'd actually look for it.
So, it sounds,.. sort of better. I mean, commercials... I guess are they making us lazy? So that we can go to the store, and make a mindless decision. Because that's certainly what I do. I guess I'm sorta ashamed of that. Of not thinking it through? Not questioning the commercials? "Oh yeah! That actor looks like he/she's enjoying that, I guess I'll go buy it sometime." But... hey... I guess I'll just spend a lot more time at home and a lot less time searching for the right thing.
But imagine how much more knowledge we'd have, if we really looked into everything we got. I say, we'd go shopping a lot less often. It'd be so tough to buy things. I think I'd give up. Just stay home and not buy anything. Impossible. Yeah.
Well, good? Bad?
Never mind. I'm going to bed.
