The great scabies epidemic of '08 has come to an end. Everything in the house is washed down and sterilized. We're packed, and I've even started hauling things outside to pack up the back of our truck. The only obstacle will be finishing the laundry tonight after bath time.
Norris bought us new MP3 players for the trip. They were shamefully cheap, and if they get full of sand no one will cry. We filled them last night, and finished the toughest part of the packing. The bills are paid, the dog is with my mom and the truck had a tune-up and oil change this morning. *whew* I'm ready!
For the next week the children will go feral, Norris will enter a coma and I'll do as little as humanly possible. My sister and brother-in-law who are staying with us aren't even packed yet. That makes me giggle until I snort.
Every year, the powers that be in my family plan this massive exodus to the beach. The current headcount stands at about 50-60 people. It's kinda sad since the original headcount was around 85. The hilarious thing that happens when my family and extended family gets together is that no one fights. No one gets all crazy pissed off and disowns anyone. We're all just easy going and laid back. I feel so blessed to be related to interesting intelligent people that I genuinely like.
The anticipation is killing me, and I know we'll hate to come back home. It's so worth all of the effort beforehand. Stay tuned to find out what wacky stuff we get up to in the week ahead. I'll be back on next Saturday.
