• Love is a Battlefield

Victor, ruler of the vampires, was running, unescorted, through the forest that separated his kind and the Fae (fairies), separated Victor from his beloved Emily. Emily, his loved one. Emily, princess of the Fae, daughter of the queen. The wind howled as he ran.
Once, about one hundred years before Victor was born, his father and the queen* met together on bare land. They had agreed that one kingdom would not disturb the other if a forest grew on the land they were standing on. That agreement was sealed with a treaty.
To this day, not one has broken the treaty. For one hundred years, up to 1886, it remained. France, the same. But during that time frame, some things change quickly.
Victor knew of the treaty, but there was nothing that can break the spell known as love, the even that specific treaty. Emily knew as well, but that wouldn't stop the two from meeting in the forest when no one would be suspecting either to have left their castles.
It was ten years ago that Victor was still treated like a child. Even though he was the leader, the rest of the vampires thought lowly of him. being of the age One hundred and Ten, Victor was the youngest. He was sent to get firewood for his kind. They were running low and desperately needed firewood.
Victor complained a bit, but he knew he needed to get the logs of tree. So he set out, the wind blowing against his face. He enjoyed the cool wind, it made him feel at peace and relaxed. As soon as he was near the center of the forest, her heard an angelic voice singing. The voice lured him away from getting the much needed firewood.
A woman with purple hair sat near a tiny pond. She had her pale feet in the water. She was singing a song one of her relatives had taught her. There was a small butterfly that looked to be tattooed onto the skin under her right eye. Her grey eyes shined in the dim light of the moon as she moved very little. There appeared to be a rose on her left cheek, but it was in an odd color. The rose's color was a fire-orange color.
Victor walked towards the clearing, his black eyes trying to search for the source of the wonderful sounds he heard. He saw a young woman there in a dark violet dress. She was just sitting there, but he knew she was the one singing. He love the some, the way her voice lowered and rose at the points where it was needed.
Soon the singing died down and her head turned to face the vampire before her. She could tell, because her kind, the Fare and the vampires were the only beings for miles to come. Victor continued to stare at her when she spoke, "It's impolite to stare." When she said that, Victor averted his eyes. The woman spoke yet again. "What's your name?"
    "Victor," was his only response.
"Ah. My name is Emily. It's a pleasure to meet you. What are you doing out in the forest so late?"
I was supposed to get firewood for my kind, but your lovely voice distracted me. I didn't mean to cause trouble for you."
Emily had a bit of a smile on her face. "It's fine. I don't mind at all. It would be nice to have some company. Maybe you could walk to the edge of the fores. I may be able to help you with your search for firewood.
With that, the two set off. The firewood was collected and Emily safely got back to the castle of the Fae. Every few days or so, Victor and Emily would meet in that same spot.

Kay, queen of the Fae, as well as Emily's mother was taking a stroll through that very forest. She had always stayed loyal to the treaty. Her red hair swayed, her grey eyes glinted and her pale skin glowed in the sliver of moonlight there was. Kay was in a gracious mood.
That is until she saw the purple hair that belonged to her daughter. She also saw the cropped black hair that belonged to Victor. The two had broken the treaty. Kay was furious, and she screamed. Both heard, and Emily began to get worried as she was dragged away by her mother back to the castle of the Fae, most likely seeing her love for the last time.
It was only a few days after that find that Kay declared war against the Vampires. She sent her messenger, Ashly, to deliver the message. Victor sent Scott, his messenger to meet in the fores with Ashly. The message was exchanged. "So war is it?" Scott asked. Ashly just nodded, her silver hair bouncing a bit, her violet eyes shining a bit in the eternal moonlight. Scott nodded and turned back, beginning to walk back to his home castle to inform Victor of the news.
"A war? Against the Fae? It would mean going against my promises to Emily.. But if it means she'll be safer, so be it!" Victor exclaimed to his messenger. Once again, Scott was sent to the forest, giving Victor's message to Ashly, who, in return, would deliver it to Kay.
Within a week's time, war had broken out between Vampires and Fae. Ashly was in battle with Scott, and as to who would win changed every so often. Kay ran past the two, her target being Victor. She had her reasons, the top being the fact that he had betrayed the treaty that had been sacred for all those years.
At first, Kay used a bow and arrow for long range, but Victor was swift and easily dodged. When it came to the point where Kay had run out of arrows, she threw her bow to the side, taking out her hidden dagger. She ran at Victor, who blocked it was a dagger of his very own.
The wind blew, stirring up loose leaves. With his pitch black eyes that met with her grey, daggers at each others throats, he tried, calmly, to explain that the treat had mentioned nothing that went against love. However, Kay knew better. She had read the treaty many times before, thus she knew all that was in the treaty.
One died... The other lived happily and a new ruler took over the kingdom that had their previous ruler die in battle. Emily was happy, and filled with grief. Who lived? Who passed on? The decision is yours.

    We are young,
    Heartache to heartache, we stand
    No promises, no demands
    Love is a battlefield.
