Elle sat at her desk at the HQ, searching. Everyone that was part of SM was searching. They couldn't stop searching. They had to find the very last pair of soul mates. This was one mission that they couldn't fail.

She was the only one at the HQ today. Alex, the leader of the Scouts had every single Scout searching for any sign of the soul mates. Her mother took everyone else out to help with the search. Since Elle was second in command of the Trackers, she was obligated to stay at the HQ. It wasn't fair that everyone else actually got to help search and she was stuck inside.

Elle's parents started the whole SM organization along with her aunt and uncle. Her uncle was the main person in charge of SM and everyone called him Leader C for a reason that Elle didn't quite understand. Uncle C used to create soul mates by giving them a little of his magic when they were born. Now Uncle C is growing weak and can't keep giving people that kind of power. From what SM knew, there is only one soul mate couple left in the world.

Elle sighed and stood up, beginning to pace. Then, the phone rang and she dove for it, answering quickly.

"Hello?!" She said eagerly. One of the Observers, Matt spoke on the other end.

"Elle! Have you heard anything? Are the Scouts back yet?" This made Elle's face fall. She had been hoping that he had seen the Scouts, or heard something. When she spoke, her voice was disappointed and dull.

"No, I thought that you had heard something.." Now Matt's voice was disappointed when he spoke,

"Of course I didn't hear anything. Why would I? No one tells me anything." The phone clicked off and Elle sighed, putting it back. She didn’t feel bad for Matt, but at least he wasn't stuck in the HQ all the time.

Just then, Elle heard footsteps outside. She jumped up and ran to the door, throwing it open to see the Scouts. "Alex! She yelled to the leader of the Scouts. Alex jogged up to her, panting and out of breath.

"Elle! We found them!" Her eyes widened with excitement,

"You did? That's great!" Alex nodded but seemed a little troubled.

"Yeah, but...we're only really sure of the girl. Her name is Ashleigh. Her soul mate could be any boy she talks to. We'll have to watch her and determine who it is." The rest of the Scouts nodded and a few of them volunteered to help watch Ashleigh. All of them seemed eager to help, but Alex shook his head as he spoke to them as well as Elle. "No! None of the Scouts can help on this mission! I've already spoken to Leader C and he told me that there are only two people who can do this mission..Elle and Matt have to go."

"What! Me?! Why?" Elle asked with wide eyes. Alex shrugged before turning deadly serious.

"I don't know exactly why it has to be you two...but it's important. Your uncle said that you two were the only people he would allow to go on this mission and that if anyone else went...it would fail. All I know is that you two MUST work together. Whatever you do, you cannot fail. All of humanity may depend on you."
