It's fairly good, but as a poet and a poetry guild leader, I think she could work on the rhythm. It sounds very choppy. I've written poetry like this, though. So, I can't say anything bad about it. It just doesn't have good rhythm. The emotion an meaning is there, though. Tell your friend good luck on her next poems. She may have what it takes. *winks*
