• Future

Three years ago I was lost in a sea of confusion and grief
Then you came along like a raft in the sea
    You were drifting too
But I was too far gone to notice
    We helped each other
    In our own separate ways
Never fully knowing how the future would play
    There were rapids and storms
    Hail and scorching sun
But you stuck with me through every one
And now that I’m here, three years from then
Sometimes I forget that I have such a wonderful friend
Because time dulls all memories, the good and the bad
And we need to remember both happy and sad
For if we forget all the things we’ve been through
We start taking the future for granted too
And if that should happen, we’ll find it quite bleak
So I want to remember, the good times and bad
The things that we hated, that made us so mad
    The stupid choices
    The words that were said
For that’s what will create the life we have ahead.
